The Full Moon in Pisces

Partial Lunar Eclipse
10:35 PM EDT

Moon at 25 of Pisces; Sun at 25 of Virgo; Moon conjoins Neptune; Opposes the Sun; Moon Sextile Uranus; Sun Trine Uranus Moon Sextile Pluto; Sun Trine Pluto; Mercury Opposes Saturn

An early and enthusiastic welcome to the Equinox and to the Fall!
Not only is there a change of temperature in the offing, the astrological climate is also shifting and becoming more cogent and compelling as we are now entering the eclipse season!
The prelude to the more important solar eclipse coming in a few weeks, there is still the fact that this is a Super Moon with enhanced energetic influences, and that it is an influential partial lunar eclipse on our super-sensible radar…
and maybe more importantly ready to influence our emotions and our relationship to all that is larger, more expansive, illusionary and imaginative, more inspirational and metaphysically aligned in our lives… Thank you, Neptune… which remains in her home sign, and because this full moon/eclipse is in Pisces!

Here is what Lena from the Shamanic school has to say about this upcoming energy and its emphasis or importance for us.
She writes:
…”Eclipses always stimulate change and transformation so pay attention to what is coming to an end in your life. Honor the ending as a portal to a breakthrough and initiation of something new. Look to your emotions to guide you during this sensitive time and engage your imagination and creativity to flow into a new and expanded dream for yourself.

Watch any issues of self esteem, worthiness and deserve-ability that may surface to test your resolve and intention for improvement. This is also a time of emotional healing for anything that is still sticky and unresolved. Be open to new insights as issues and their solutions may become clearer to you at this time. If something is supposed to end, the eclipse will help it along. If something is supposed to breakthrough into your friend, the eclipse will support it. Follow your heart and don’t resist your emotions. Be inspired by beauty and all the things that are right in your life.”

As I read and listen to a variety of sources, there is an aspect that acts as an important and compelling preface to the lunar eclipse and full moon … It is an opposition from Venus to Chiron…

Looking at the overall impact of this struggling aspect, some comments see it as a time of completion… but not before dealing with some remorse and regret concerning our past actions and the consequences (possibly tragic?) that have occurred, and that will seek a more complete resolution of a conflict or seek out a greater, more empathic understanding after the moon cycle lessens.

Some commentators see this as having a larger societal or political importance… Others consider this opposition to be one that reaches into our personal past, and seeks to clear or clean out painful relationship memories and lingering hurts.

From my perspective, it could point to work happening on a more global level, and/or those energies for reconciliation that could mirror or can represent our inner struggles, questions, and needs for emotional resolution…

Another crucial concern comes to us from the messenger Mercury who finds his ability to communicate more effectively blocked or opposed to Saturn, the planet of limitations, structure… even good grammar!

This is rarely, if ever, an easy aspect…especially for those of us who value easy, fluid, and meaningful conversations! There is an impediment that blocks our facile comprehension, and that obstructs our ability to be easily comprehended or understood! What is it?
This moon’s payload of emotions, unresolved feelings, disturbing memories, and negative life experiences that can nag at us or disrupt our dreams!

You see, that this opposition happens within minutes of the full moon! And ordinarily the lunar eclipses will convey emotional messages and intuitive flashes, they could be stifled, and not be allowed to be processed or expressed!

Keep this powerful aspect in mind when you read about any glowing commentaries… be aware that this moon, having all the characteristics of Pisces, and with some Scorpionic influences thrown in, will require your attention and your perseverance in order to give you its wisdom…

Here are two distinct views of this upcoming eclipse…The first is from a new contributor, astrologer Stephanie N. Campos. She writes for the Well & Good newsletter. Here is an excerpt of what She has written about what we can expect from this eclipse:

“This event kicks off a new series of eclipses happening in the Pisces and Virgo sections of your birth chart which lasts until August 2026! (The last time we had the last lunar eclipse in Pisces was on September 16, 2016, so it’s been a minute.)

… Lunar eclipses typically bring profound moments of change and awakening. … Eclipses also typically coincide with an ending of sorts and, as we travel through the last zodiac sign, it is clear that something in our lives has entered its final act. Symbolized by the Two Fish swimming in opposite directions, Pisces knows that both grief and joy can be present at the same time. The Pisces lunar eclipse may both expand your heart and crack it open in the same breath. Change is inevitable and, often, when we surrender to it, the greatest part of our journey can be found around the corner. …
Much like a typical full moon, a full moon that is also a lunar eclipse will usher in a period of transitions, endings, moments of culmination, or release. Such changes tend to feel more dramatic during a lunar eclipse. … Lunar eclipses are thought to speed up our timelines—we can no longer avoid the things we’ve been putting off. People that enter or exit our life and situations that unfold during eclipse season can often feel karmic, too. …

Due to this unpredictable energy, eclipses are typically ill-advised for manifestation work. …. Listen to your intuition, and trust that an eclipse is a portal to a new path that is meant for you.

This year’s lunar eclipse in Pisces is significant because it’s the first eclipse in a new series, bringing fated and destined changes to the Virgo and Pisces houses in your birth chart. Taking place in the third decan of Pisces … is associated with a certain feeling of perfection, and like you finally reached a goal you’ve worked tirelessly toward. It’s possible that a dream may be realized under this eclipse but also, comes the reality of what is required to continue to maintain this desire in the long-term. … You may also experience a significant ending in your life and, through the darkness, some unexpected blessings arrive.

The lunar eclipse is conjunct Neptune, a planet of illusion, compassion, and imagination. As such, this eclipse may stir up feelings of idealism, creativity, and romance—great for nurturing your creative side, but no so great for keeping you grounded in reality. … There’s plenty of tension in the sky during this lunar eclipse, but engaging with what you’ve avoided and allowing yourself to embrace uncertainty may lead you to your happy ending.

And the next astrological observation is from Wolfam and Sappho…
Wolfam and Sappho are an astrological team running their workshops and teaching about the application of astrology to life and social events. Here is what they have to say about this upcoming eclipse:

“This Lunar Eclipse has two important components that support one another and bring a special dynamic to this Lunar Eclipse.
First, with the Sun in Virgo oppose the Moon in Pisces, this Lunar Eclipse is energizing the theme of change that can lead to the “Freedom from Limiting Beliefs”. When we consider the signs of Virgo and Pisces, they often include themes like guilt, inadequacy (never being good enough), low self-esteem, helplessness, shame, perfection and crisis (feeling overwhelmed).

… This Lunar Eclipse energizes the potential to develop new responses to the events and circumstances in your daily life. This Lunar Eclipse seeks to get your attention so that you realize you can safely put down your childhood “Survival Kit” and begin to develop a new “Tool Box” to respond to life’s circumstances in more effective ways.

The core difference between the “Survival Kit” and the “Tool Box” is that the “Survival Kit” is unconscious habits from childhood and the “Tool Box” is the conscious choices of an adult.

This Lunar Eclipse contains an invitation to say “Wait a minute! Let me see if there might be a better way to respond to life”.
… If you find yourself overwhelmed and discover you are multitasking, think “Survival Kit”. Slow down and identify your current priority and then calmly attend to that one task – think “Tool Box”. Then in the days that follow, consider how you might simplify your life so that you do not need to multitask as a way of life. … When you recall the positive experiences and accomplishments in your life, whether large or small, you are building your “Tool Box” of healthy responses to life. The simple fact of making the effort of beginning to work with your “Tool Box” is a sign of progress. Taking the first step, even a very small step, can become a very, very big step.”

The Autumnal Equinox occurs this week… and carries with it, the annual reminder of the essential spiritual and practical virtue of balance; it reminds us of how equilibrium, equality, and equity are important values to uphold, and to realize in our lives and in our society as a while.
It is Libra; which carries all these energies for equipoise and perspective- trying to maintain our objectivity and our appreciation for change.

In anticipation of the powerful solar eclipse in two weeks, I recommend that each of us endeavors to find a more balanced perspective and outlook for our lives and to evaluate carefully all that you are given; all the might grab your attention, and then measure those words and feelings, evaluate those experiences by how they promote equity and balance in your life!
