Sun & Moon at 9 Degrees; Trine Saturn

Mars begins it long opposition to Pluto

  Daylight Saving Ends on Sunday!

Diwali Begins; Dia De Los Mutreos

Many people has already begun their earnest appreciation of the spiritual lessons that come to us each Autumn, and that remind us of the universality of change, and the promise of transformation. I have always found it inspiring to note that the last 90 days of the year hold many significant and important holidays/holy days for those who embrace a variety of religious ideals and practices…

In my interfaith daily wisdom book series, Seasons of The Soul, I have noted that ritual, meditation, observance of holidays etc., can be a source of continual inspiration and hope; even through the darkening days of the Fall, and maybe especially this year when we are dealling with the anxious Autumn of the election season…

So, for that more widely inclusive reason, I want to remind people that this All Hallow’s Eve and Tridium also can be observed through the Indian/East Asian festival called Diwali… Here is a brief synopsis, and I encourage you to search out more, and read about its significance more completely…

“Around one billion people worldwide and across the U.S. will celebrate Diwali this week. Diwali, also known as Deepavali and the Hindu “Festival of Lights,” is one of India’s most widely celebrated holidays. It overlaps with other harvest rituals and festivals. The dates for the holiday vary each year as they follow the lunar calendar. Diwali also occurs on the night of a new moon, adding to the importance of lights during Diwali. In the darkness of night, roads and paths in India are lined with oil lamps illuminating the way to temples where gods and goddesses are honored among lights.

People will also clean their homes and ensure every room is lit with lamps the night of Diwali, as it is believed that the goddess Lakshmi visits well-lit homes, Gupta says. It’s a festival of giving thanks and one that celebrates the presence of light in Hindus’ lives … it celebrates the victory of light over darkness.”

(Yes… Day of the Dead is also celebrated… But in the interst of length and time, I would also encourage you to read about this heartfelt and often joyous commemoration of the ancestors…)

Back to the astrological discussion…

There is very little doubt that this particular new moon in Scorpio, if we are not careful, will cary with her a dynamism and a sense of dread within it; However, this forewboding is dispelled into the Autumn mists If we first accept and then learn to embrace the necessities for shifts and changes in our personal lives and in our world!  The energetic qualities of this Scorpionic moon requires honesty, integrity and authenticity from us; as the natural detective/psychologist/alchemist of the Zodiac, nothing less will suffice! If we truly desire to change something in our lives, we have be be willing to act; setting positive intentions might be the deep and lasting gift of this weekend lessons and requirements of each of us!

Here are two observations and reflections on the valuable soul lessons that accompany this series of days…

Stephanie Campos, writing in the Well & Good Newsletter offers us her insights and understanding of this upcoming new moon in these words:

“New moons are associated with both beginnings and endings, and no new moon encapsulates this principle better than one in Scorpio, the zodiac sign associated with alchemy, transformation, death, and rebirth.

Under new moons in Scorpio, you’re encouraged to shed what no longer serves you (finally!) and embrace the unknown. So be sure to create space for new opportunities and aligned connections to enter your life.

Scorpio is … one of the most powerful zodiac signs… This new moon is an opportunity to connect with your shadow side and face your fears: the magic often lies in what you’ve avoided doing.

… This period invites you to spend time with your shadow side and the parts of yourself that you’ve rejected in the past. Grief, guilt, shame, and jealousy can all bubble up to the surface under these moonbeams. Ultimately, this new moon helps alchemize your past wounds to induce transformation—and reclamation of power.

This year’s new moon in Scorpio isn’t for the faint of heart. You can’t avoid your emotions when the moon moves through Scorpio and—under these moonbeams—tensions run high. People will be on edge, and themes of power and control will be underlying motives. Others may try to exert dominance over you at work or influence you to relinquish your own power. While this energy can be pretty competitive and combative, it can help empower you to confront issues you’ve avoided.

Fortunately, the new moon forms a gentle and supportive connection with Saturn in Pisces, helping you approach matters with a reasonable and mature frame of mind. Confiding in people you trust and respect, like mentors or elders, can be helpful and healing under this new moon.”

Amanda Pua Walsh, the host of Astrology Hub, offers this observation about the upcoming Scorpio season… There are signs and signals of the changes that can be made. Among the signs that [signal that] you are ripe for change and growth, she lists these traits:

As the potent Scorpio New Moon approaches (Friday, November 1), we are ALL feeling a strong current of change sweeping through our collective consciousness. Just like the legendary Phoenix rising from its own ashes, we are standing at a profound moment of potential metamorphosis. And also like the Phoenix, the choice is completely ours. We can use the content of our lives as the fuel that burns and destroys, or the catalyst that enables transformation. Transformation has a  literal meaning to go beyond our current form. During this potent Scorpio season, we’re being called to embrace transformation not as something that happens TO us, but as a sacred process we actively participate IN.

With all of that said, I know the idea of “transformation” can feel a little intangible… how do you really know if you’re actively participating in a transformative process?

Here are some clear signs that you’re in the midst of transformation:

You’re not falling into the same patterns of emotional drama with others that you used to.

Certain goals that used to feel important to you no longer hold the same significance.
You have an overwhelming desire to purge or get rid of things.
You’re compelled to change your home or physical space.
You’re craving solitude and introspection.

Underneath it all, you’re feeling pressure …and a sense of impending change (although you probably don’t have clarity on what that will actually look like).

As we navigate this powerful season together, remember that transformation isn’t always about the big moments… …most of the time, it’s in the daily choice to show up for yourself, to digest your experiences consciously, and to allow love to be the alchemical force that shapes your journey.

And remember, every time you choose transformation you’re contributing to the evolution of our collective consciousness. Your personal transformation ripples out into the world, creating possibilities for others to courageously move into unchartered territory in their own lives .

As John C. Maxwell wisely said, “Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.”  It’s clear change is on the horizon, but it’s an active, optional choice to allow those changes to propel you to the next, reborn version of yourself.

This is what Scorpio Season is all about… and especially so this year. “

As far as additional planetary influences during this time, the primary one, and the one that will remain active through this season and into next Spring, is the tense and dynamic opposition between Mars and Pluto…

(November 3rd and 3X times because of retrogrades until April 27th!)

While truly challenging, we also have some moderating influences from Venus opposing Jupiter, soothing energies from Chiron, and some quieting, and more introspective influence from Neptune…While your thoughts might have an intensity to them, allow them to examine only what is necessary for you to release and let go…Mercury moves into Sagittarius, and your thoughts and goals for your life can be lifted up…

Lets look at the powerful and dynamic opposition from Mars to Pluto… remembering that in classical astrology, Mars was the original ruler of Scorpio, and not until Pluto was discovered did the rulership change…

Remembering that whenever a planet occupies the anaretic degree- 29 degrees- of a sign, it obtains/retains an intensity or an enhanced focus. With Mars ready to cross over into Leo on Sunday, while its sits on 29, these three days before ignite or at least energize Pluto at 29 of Capricorn, which has been on or near that degree for months- and will finally begin its approach into Aquarius later in November…

Considered in traditional astrology to be malific, or at least challenging, daunting, and potentially forceful in opposition, we can experience pressurized situations around Cancer/Capricorn parts our natal chart…

This causes a resistance or at least a reluctance to follow Mars marching orders! Becaused of this situation, it best NOT to push, demand, cajole or in any way try to assert power or influence on others… it will boomerang!             It will be a time for delving deeply into oneself, and examining your motives, and reinforcing the ideals that you have chosen to guide you!

In the spirit of he season, I ask you to remember the three-fold holy day; Remembering that after the sincere struggle for finding your guiding ideals-there is All Saints; then there is the loving acceptance and solace that can be found in remembering ancestors- All Soul’s- and graciously and joyfully recalling all who are in your spiritual lineage as sources of comfort, inspiration, and hope…

Celestial Blessings, Peter
