Moon at 24 degrees of Taurus; Conjunct Uranus
Sun at 24 degrees of Scorpio; Trine Neptune
Saturn turns direct; Pluto enters Aquarius
(using my 3 degrees limit-excluding Pluto…for now!)
While much of the astrological world has focussed its attention on the promises and pitfalls of Pluto entering into Aquarius for the next two decades, I neither see this neither a quick nor a swift transformation.
I perceive that the long awaited revelations will be felt gradually and/or unconsciously. The stubbornly intense energies of the 29th degree anaretic point will remain with us, even if it is a residual effect!
Because of this, I will begin my report with the shift of Saturn into direct motion as an important participant or as an accompanying partner to this upcoming full moon…
Saturn, considered to be one of the primary social planets along with Jupiter, is the last visible planet we can see in the night sky. Classically, it is the planet of limitations, laws, structures and responsibilities. In the aftermath of the national elections, we could say that Saturn’s shift into its slow but determined forward motion influences our society intently and deeply. Saturn teaches that wherever we had lacked a firm foundation, a sense of solid structure, and an awareness of reliable social boundaries, legal and moral ethics, and behavioral guidelines it would have its effects-possibly as a wholesale reprimand, and to harshly point out where the lack of social knowledge has become commonplace, and how far the norms of a society can be stretched, like a societal rubber band that snaps back in our faces! In that way, it supersedes any political “spin” and impartially looks at our world systematically. That is how Saturnine energies operate best: To create foundations, structures, limits, and to establish or codify laws that allow a culture to function well and operate consistently… When ignored or taken for granted, Saturn acts as a necessary corrective, and can act as a future force towards the clarification of the laws and norms that matter most…
Here is what astrologer and teacher Lynn Hayes observes about the nature of Saturn and its direct motion. She writes:
“Saturn, the planet that teaches endurance and the value of discipline and hard work, … When a planet appears to “station” before a change of direction, its influence intensifies, making this the perfect time to do the difficult things that must be done, even if we don’t feel like it. This won’t be the best time for optimism and speculation, but it’s the perfect time to clean up any debris from the past, and prepare for what comes next. Saturn may not be a fun planet and tends to slow things down, which can be frustrating, but it’s the partner when you need to be tough and get things done.” …
As Saturn returns to direct motion, we are supported in confronting and resolving past issues or emotional (Pisces) blocks (Saturn) that may have surfaced during its retrograde period. One key theme of Saturn in Pisces is learning about emotional boundaries. Emotional boundaries can be subtle, ranging from ignoring one’s inner voice and giving in to others’ expectations, to oversharing in an unconscious attempt to gain attention.
Setting healthy emotional boundaries means (a) trusting and acting in alignment with our true feelings and (b) taking responsibility for our emotions, sharing them thoughtfully with the right people and in the appropriate context.
Be sure to check whee 16 degrees of Pisces is located in your chart to discern how this Saturn shift could affect you…
I will begin to add to the commentary on this full moon with the outlook expressed by Lena, of the Shamanic School. She writes:
“The aspects of this moon can bring an unsettled and somewhat challenging energy that can have us feeling out of sorts, agitated and disturbed. It is best to simply accept and channel this discomfort into small, grounded activities that include doing something that inspires you…. Focus on staying organized with the details of your life, especially when you feel scattered. Make a list if you need to. …
Remember that reaction, especially negative reaction, holds no power. It is a choice to be positive, proactive, kind, loving and compassionate no matter what. Anchor into your authenticity during this full moon time and do what you love to do.”
One of the most influential factors in understanding this full moon is how “unTaurian” it can be! While Taurus has long been regarded is one of the most stable, reliable, conservative, and fixed of the signs, this full moon can have it demonstrate its rarely viewed rebellious, spontaneous “wild side!”
Why? The usual culprit in erratic, independent expression and in our transformative experiences- Uranus-is conjunct this moon, and will have its electric effect on its expression! There is certainly an air of unpredictability; a door ajar for some chaos? And there will be a wider and more potent receptivity towards unexpected, and erratic behavior that will open that chaotic door to some significant changes! You could find yourself feeling pushed beyond your comfort zones, and needing to respond to unfamiliar invitations and potential challenges to your norms or the status quo within your lives…
For some, it will be felt as a rebellion from any previous limits, confusion, restrictions… for others just the necessity for change, and letting it all shake out after those changes have been made! You will receive these nudges, and necessities at the level of your awareness, or at the level of your curiosity to see where they might lead! The best advice here is to welcome any shifts and changes as they appear, and then reflect on their value and importance for you… it will be a matter of free choice; Whether you will keep those changes, or revert to what was more familiar and comfortable for you…
The Astrodome website offers us a more metaphysical and hopeful perspective. Included in their report are these observations:
“The beauty of having a Taurus full moon as the last full moon to include Pluto in Capricorn (for the next 240 years…) is poetic. Pluto’s mission—to expose the shadows within our systems and dismantle everything we once considered stable—has reached completion. You can see it all around: political upheaval, wars, division, health crises, food toxicity, natural disasters. It feels like the end of times. Yet, this Taurus Full Moon, aligned with Uranus, unveils a vision—a promise of radical change, a seismic shift that shatters the old crumbling structures of society. The coming week is a portal, a pivotal threshold of shifting perspectives, birthing something entirely new. A new paradigm awaits—a framework for the greater good of all. But to receive this frequency upgrade, there is one requirement: let go of attachment to our outdated patterns of greed, control, and fear.”
For a wider and more indigenous and natural view, I am including an except from Julie Peter’s article on the significance of the November Moon, that she authored for the magazine, Spirituality and Practice. Here is what she records for us:
The Spiritual Meaning of November’s Beaver Moon
November is the month of the full Beaver Moon, according to Indigenous and European traditions in North America. Around this time, beavers settle into the lodges they so diligently built in the spring and summer, preparing for the colder season. The Cree and Assiniboine people refer to November’s moon as the Frost Moon, …
The outside world becomes less habitable, the days are darker, and it is a time for beavers (and us) to head inside, slow down, and trust in the work we’ve done over the harvest season while we settle in for the coming frost. …
The Spiritual Power of Beavers (and Frost) Both the beaver and the frost are powerful spiritual symbols. Beavers are known for working hard and collaboratively—they build lodges and dams that create pools deep enough that they do not freeze in winter. Though beavers don’t hibernate, they spend more time inside during the winter season. They often mate during November and December, so they spend the coldest part of the year gestating and caring for their young in safety, away from the unforgiving elements. Like the busy beavers, humans can certainly continue to work during the winter season, but the work should change. This is not a time to start new projects, but rather to finish them or put them away until the seasons shift again. This is a good time to practice internal healing work, focus on family life, and build a spiritual connection to our communities and to nature. …
How to Work With the November Full Moon
Here are some ways to help align yourself with the spiritual energies of the full Beaver Moon:
- Spend time dreaming and coming up with new ideas, but delay action on those ideas until the new year. Let them gestate over the winter rather than trying to birth them immediately.
- Warm up with hot tea, warm scarves, hot water bottles, and heating pads, and spend time by a fire. Sleep a little more than you usually would.
- Spend more time with your closest loved ones.
- Enjoy sensual experiences, like fresh baking, hot baths, and making love.
- Direct your energy to your spiritual and internal practices, such as meditation, reflection, journaling, counseling, or whatever other form of spiritual and emotional connection works for you.”
Last, but hardly least, the emphatic swirls of attention in the astrological world are revolving around the progress of Pluto into Aquarius…
The astrology research, teaching and writing group, Astrobutterfly, give us this excellent overview on the work of Pluto. They outline what we can expect, and they reinforce the themes that the astrological world emphases; that there is much to learn, much to know about this important shift into Aquarius. It will be a theme I will return to often in the coming years…
“On November 19th, 2024, Pluto enters Aquarius. This is the BIG day: Pluto officially crosses the threshold and begins its 2-decade journey through Aquarius. Yes, you read that right – 20 years of Pluto in Aquarius! Some of us might even be thinking, “20 years? Will I even be alive in 2044?”.
… We are talking about a shift that will impact the very fabric of our society – as well as every single one of us on both a collective and personal level. … Pluto enters Aquarius for good. There’s no turning back. This transit has a solemn, almost fated quality, as if crossing a threshold. …As we conclude Pluto’s long journey through Capricorn, it’s time to set an intention for the next couple of decades.
The 3 Stages Of Pluto’s Cycle Of Change
The 3 stages of Pluto’s cycle of change are: 1) disempowerment, 2) awareness, and 3) transformation. This cycle mirrors what Carl Jung describes as “individuation” – the process of becoming a distinct, integrated self. …
The 1st stage of Pluto’s cycle of change is disempowerment.
This stage occurs when we are unable to assert our personal will, either because external forces prevent us from doing so or because we lack clarity on what we want. We often experience disempowerment early in life, for example, when our parents – sometimes knowingly, but often unknowingly- impose their will on us, … Pluto’s disempowerment experiences typically involve emotional, psychological, or physical abuse. There’s usually an element of power dynamics in these Plutonic encounters. We recognize that those inflicting this Plutonic disempowerment are aware of their actions, often using their power to fulfill their own needs or desires with an implicit “I’m stronger than you, and I’ll use my power over you.” We know we are in this 1st Pluto stage, “disempowerment,” when we feel fear, anxiety, uncertainty, and a sense of powerlessness.
The 2nd stage of Pluto’s cycle of change is awareness. This is when we descend into the ‘underworld’ to explore what is disempowering us. By re-living these initial disempowering episodes, we bring unprocessed feelings and experiences from the subconscious into conscious awareness. This stage is the most intense part of Pluto’s cycle of change, but also the most liberating. During this phase, we may experience significant distress, resistance, and a sense of being out of control.
It’s crucial not to give up halfway through. The deeper the resistance, the more deeply we need to engage with our understanding until we reach acceptance and release. We know we’ve reached this stage when we experience a sense of release or catharsis, along with a new understanding of ourselves.
Finally, the 3rd stage is transformation through action. This is when we reclaim our power, but instead of acting from individual, self-centered, ‘Mars’ desires, we act responsibly and with the collective good in mind.
This process of transformation is ongoing, as our actions need to be regularly challenged and aligned with our surroundings. We know we’re in this stage when we find a sense of flow – when things feel ‘just right’ rather than ‘the whole world is against me.’ This stage isn’t the end. The process of individuation is aspirational in nature: it’s about ‘moving toward’ something rather than ‘arriving’ at a fixed destination. We may find ourselves at different stages of Pluto’s cycle of change at various points in our lives.”
Your first clue as to how you can apply and understand Pluto’s mission and purpose in your life is to locate 0 degrees of Aquarius in your chart. Look to the house it occupies, and to any close aspects it makes to your natal planets…
Lastly, as I will not be writing before Thanksgiving, you will need to book our travel and arrange our transportation quickly. Mercury turns retrograde on the 25th! And yes, expect more than a generous portion of consternation and difficult dialogue between the turkey and mashed potatoes!
