Sun & Moon at 9 degrees; Square Jupiter

Neptune opposes the Ascendant; Super Stellium in Pisces

Venus goes retrograde

Welcome to the illusionary, delightful, mystical and often confusing Pisces moon! As we enter into this last month of the astrological year, we are greeted with an infusion of Piscean energies coming at us from a multitude of directs! You see, it is not just the deployment of the usual amounts of  magical and boundary breaking flow of Pisces into our world through this new moon, no, so much more! We are also sitting at a Piscean banquet!

This new moon brings us to what astrologers call a very rare event; a super stellium! There are 6…count them, nine planets and heavenly bodies occupying the Pisces realm and will infuse you and influence you wherever Pisces is located in your chart! Look at it closely and look at it heart fully… What a multifaceted, multi-layered gift of possibilities and wide-ranging potentials!

You could say, you are going to dive deeply into the delightful and the unknown; into a mysterious and yet wise octopus’s garden and swim in a sea of infinite possibilities. Read what Rob Brezney’s monthly column says about these phenomena… He writes:

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): Octopuses have three hearts, each with a different function. Every one of their eight limbs contains a mini-brain, giving them nine in total. Is there any doubt, then, that they are the patron creature for you Pisceans? No other zodiac sign is more multifaceted than you. No other can operate with grace on so many different levels. I celebrate your complexity, dear Pisces, which enables you to draw such rich experiences into your life and manage such diverse challenges.

These qualities will be working at a peak in the coming weeks. For inspiration, consider putting an image of an octopus in your environment.”

Here is the planetary and heavenly body alignment: We are given the Sun & Moon at 9 degrees; then, occupying the last ten degrees (the Scorpionic decan of Pisces) we have Saturn at 20; Mercury at 24; the North Node at 27; and Neptune at 28! (some astrologers would also add the asteroid Ceres in this mix as well…)

Simone Butler, writing in the newsletter, Mooncircles, give us hjer assessment of how best to deal with the amorphous and mysterious energies of this new moon. She writes:

“This New Moon can enhance the feeling of overwhelm that many of us are feeling. But it may also bring a call to fulfill a long-held dream Neptune-Node), a prompting to embark upon a rescue mission (Sun-Moon) or, the need to set strong, necessary boundaries (Mercury-Saturn) to protect yourself and/or others. Healing and unity can be cultivated and overwhelm reduced by tuning into music, a profound Piscean medium. Surround yourself with your favorite tunes, as well as inspiring people and animals.”

The teaching group, Astrobutterfly, gives us the metaphor of the mermaid’s call… (NOT the siren’s call, which has been interpreted to be more ominous and dangerous!) but more of an encouraging invitation to go out beyond where logic can reach, and plunge into the depths of our psyches and then float along with the flow of consciousness that envelops us all… They write:

“The mermaid’s call is a metaphor for the New Moon in Pisces. The New Moon, soaked in the energy of North Node conjunct Neptune, connects us to our deepest longing.

The mermaid is a metaphor for something we long for but can’t fully grasp – like a fleeting dream. The call of the mermaid is our desire to explore something beyond the ordinary. Water (and the sea) represents emotion, intuition, and the unconscious mind. The mermaid’s call is a magnetic force pulling us toward the possibilities that lie beyond the ordinary.”

With the North Node, Neptune, and Pisces, our approach cannot be conventional. Deep answers can only be found if we are willing to let go of rigid definitions of what’s real and embrace the intangible and the abstract. This is NOT a time to ask scientists or experts for definitive answers.

This is a time to delve into alternative perspectives, and explore intuition, spirituality, and imagination. With North Node, Neptune and Pisces, you will not get a sno answer. You will not get a checklist. You will not get a step-by-step framework like “do this, step 1, step 2”, etc. Instead, you will get hints. You will notice patterns. You will feel pulled – sometimes inexplicably so – towards something that resonates on a deeper, ineffable level.

Neptune and Pisces are associated with imagination or things that are not real, often carrying a negative connotation. However, Neptune and Pisces also rule miracles, serendipities, and the unexplained wonders of life

We turn to alternative medicine or esoteric practices because when the conventional fails to provide answers, the only option left is to embrace the unconventional….Neptune also explains the allure of astrology or other esoteric arts.                                                             With the North Node, Neptune and Saturn in Pisces, this is not a time to follow the beaten path. This is not a time to be conventional.. This is a time to embrace a grand vision – one that seems a bit too far-fetched to be true – but also one you can see eventually materializing into reality.”

While the focus is on the Pisces qualities of this time and place, there has to be at least an introduction to those planetary movements and placements that are also happening over the weekend and in the near future…Here is a collection of thoughts that will assist you in understanding Venus retrograde and how best to cope with her influences.

A.E. Kent on Venus retrograde…

Whatever the position of Aries in your own birth chart, for the next 40+ days we are, to some extent, under the sway of this Venus in Aries…  In Venus terms, this might mean trying not to shop so much. Refraining from buying something costly, like a house or a new car. Not calling that cute person whom you wish to date; they’ll still be there in mid-April, and if they’re not, well, I guess that’s telling you something. …

Those are the potential pluses and minuses of the Sun’s square to Jupiter (March 2, 2025, 10:19 am PST, 12º25’ Pisces and Gemini): the excitement and new possibilities of embracing Jupiter’s giant YES, but also the danger of saying yes to too much, or to things that are not helpful, healthy, or safe.

But how about this: In a couple of weeks (March 12), the Sun will make a conjunction with Saturn, the hall-monitor of the solar system. Any excesses, any poor choices you make this week can be reined in then. So this week, go ahead and say “yes” a little more – but with the knowledge that you’ll have to answer to Saturn soon!

And these insightful words from Elisabeth Grace:

Venus turns retrograde at 10 degrees of Aries, and backs into Pisces on March 27th, finally turning direct on April 12th at 24 degrees Pisces. In our social interactions, Venus is the sugar that sweetens our demands, facilitating cooperation in relationships. When direct in motion, Venus supports social graces and words like “please” and “thank you”. When retrograde, courtesy and consideration are more easily forgotten — and relationships suffer.

One coping strategy for Venus Rx is to remember that most people don’t know about it, and if they’re snapping at you impatiently and selfishly, you will understand what it is and choose not to engage and/or escalate it.

Venus retrograde can “coincide” with messed up aesthetic senses. Be very careful about starting a fling with that hot new thing during this time period, lest ye awaken in a month or so with buyer’s remorse — or worse — the horrible, panicked aftermath of a coyote date. This applies to all partnerships: business, political, and romantic. Research and contemplation are advised before making commitments. Your values and senses are in flux.

If you’re planning on redecorating, it is prudent to wait until after Venus turns retrograde to finalize your choices. Putting in an offer on a home? The value of the home may be inflated. Look under the rugs, kick the tires — make sure you’re not seduced by surface charm covering up something rotten. Venus retrogrades are not auspicious for elective cosmetic procedures.

What good can come out of Venus retrograde? Plenty! You may find yourself REconsidering what you value. Wherever Venus is traveling in your horoscope, that’s the area of your life that is ripe for a review. Consult your astrologer for details.”

A last thought within the stream of Piscean thoughts comes to us from

Dana Gerhardt, who facilitates the more magical and inspirational website called, Mooncircles, gives us her wry and yet abiding advice concerning how best to navigate the waters of this Piscean season. She writes:

How will Pisces visit you?

Waiting for Pisces to appear is the fun part. No way can I predict his costume. But if you find yourself wandering into rooms for reasons you forgot, if you feel the urge to float for hours in the bathtub, or to take a long drive to nowhere,

Pisces may be present, trying to get you to pause, listen, and come into this moment, where she promises you’ll find everything. Pay attention to your nightly dreams. Listen to your daytime fantasies. These are the expressions of your soul. Can you read their language?…. This cycle may we all find, on our fragile spinning globe, some grace, some power, the hand of sweet guidance. Call it faith or hope; both belong to Pisces.

And let’s join with Swami Beyondananda in his prayer to the hot dog vendor:  “Make me one with everything.”

Celestial Blessings, Peter
