Venus goes Direct; Planetary voids

This week has given us a financial rollercoaster ride, and feelings of uncertainty. Yet, the gift or the benefit of this week is to see that both Mercury (Monday) and Venus (Saturday) will have ended their retrogrades, and will begin to move forward into Aries and into a more direct action.

Venus dominates the over-all focus and expression of energy during this moon; Prior to her reign, from Mercury now direct we receive the possibility of more clear thinking, and then from Venus we can begin to have a more cogent and capable view of money and relationships which can be reassuring rather than fueling those feelings of uncertainty and increasing the alarm that can easily panic us. There are a few strong and influential aspects at work in all this tumult and confusion, and we need to know more about the over-all situation that presents itself to us during this moon cycle.

Just before the moon, and then just after it, there are three energetic patterns need our attention, First, on the 12th, we have the Sun conjunct Chiron. As an essential part and purpose of Chiron, there is revealed a pattern for our spiritual development and will direct our inner alchemical actions that can move us closer to living “beyond our egos.”

This often involves us in making hard choices; creating firm boundaries, and then discerning with whom, or in what ways, the best steps towards our inner growth can happen! Many times, this requires us to re-visit times when we were alone and feeling abandoned or neglected, and offer ourselves self nurture and compassion.

Chiron’s link with depth psychology is becoming better known. Self-understanding, and having a more complete picture of our full identity integrates the shadow, what remains hidden or unresolved in our lives or in our psyches, and then brings the qualities we need for healing, resolution, and acceptance into the light. As we claim our increasing sense of wholeness, greater opportunities can manifest or be made known.

As an over-all summary of what we can learn, what we can expect, and what lessons there are for us during this full moon cycle, Lena of the Shamanic school, offers us these words

“Also known as the Pink Moon, this moon brings balance, healing and the power of a fresh start. Acknowledge who you are today in all of your hard-earned wisdom and learning from challenges, karmic situations and personal choices of the past. As you embrace the foundation of who you are, you can also ask, “What needs more balance in my life? What needs more healing? What have I learned from my past?”

Watch for tension and unsettled energy around this moon, as it can bring emotions to the surface. Try not to react around something out of your control. Focus instead on prayers for release of burdens carried and the deep healing of old ancestral wounds. Put any restless energy into a creative task or a physical discipline and take responsibility for your life. Feeling victimized or blaming others will not serve anyone.”

The second factor is the distinct Venusian emphasis of this moon cycle. Before launching into that description, let’s take a step back and take a view that is a little wider.

Here is what astrologer and writer, Lynn Hayes has to say about that emphasis:

Libra Full Moon, and Venus turns direct April 13. The Libra Full Moon is ruled by Venus, and Venus is at its most potent at the Full Moon, since it turns direct that day. This means that all things Venusian (beauty and love of course, but also finance, connection, sensitivity, art, aesthetics…) are highlighted here. At the Libra Full Moon, we seek balance and harmony, along with the integration of opposing forces within us and in our environment as well.

At this Full Moon, Venus forges a harmonious partnership (trine) with Mars in Cancer, encouraging the unfolding of the most secret of emotions in order to gain greater depth in our relationships. Influences of Saturn, the North Node and Mercury also combine to offer opportunities for intention and plans for the future.”

The third factor is the conjunction of Venus to Saturn that will happen early next week. As Kapatcha in his popular column, Astrology For The Soul, writes this observation concerning the lengthy conjunction between Venus and Saturn. He writes:

… On the same day as the full Moon, with the Sun conjunct Chiron (opposite the Moon)  We are getting the italics, the underline, and big bold letters saying “Put your relationships in order!” and that involves some deep reflection before conversation.                                                                                              “I believe this weekend can be a beautiful time of sharing sensitive moments, conversation, and caring.  With sympathy for ourselves and each other we can create safe spaces for opening our hearts, sharing our needs and fears, and with some grace, find a deeper spiritual connection with those we love.

It’s time to raise the bar on our relationships, which means opening and going deeper with those who care and of the same heart/mind, and leaving behind those who don’t get us anymore despite how old or deep the relationship was/is.

Either way, we can be experiencing a time of emptiness and sorrow, either for what we have done or not done, or what we are being called to let go of in order to move on.  Just remember there’s no hurry, as class isn’t over til the last breath.”

A somewhat strange ally to feeling more settled comes from the fact that after the 14th and until May 18th, there are no difficult or challenging aspects among the planets themselves. This planetary void can be a time that is relaxing or restorative, or it can fill us either anxious anticipation; From my perspective, I feel that we might really need this respite before the powerful Mars moves back into Leo, when any lasting sense of stability, without an accompanying undercurrent of tense action, will be hard to find or feel!

Kathy Biehl, writing in OM Magazine, summarizes this time period and she reminds us about the conjunction of Mercury to Neptune that will soon appear.  Mercury, now direct, has renewed importance. She writes:

“Mercury reenters Aries on April 15. The next day brings the first understanding of Neptune’s entry into Aries through a conjunction with Mercury. Our thinking catches fire, and so do communication channels, fueled by a force that is more instinctive than rational.”

Astrobutterfly, a teaching and research astrology group, adds these words of description for us to ponder. They write:

“What’s very interesting about this ingress is that this is the second time Mercury meets Neptune. The first time the 2 met was a few weeks ago, at 29°59’ Pisces – the very last degree of the zodiac – and now they meet again at 0° Aries, the very first degree of the zodiac.

Does this feel like divine orchestration? Ir surely is. After meeting to close a chapter, Mercury and Neptune now come together to start a new one. This is significant!

Pay attention to any inspirations, ideas, longings, or opportunities that come your way. This might be much bigger than you think – not necessarily right away, but down the line.”

“Energy mounts even more after April 18, when Mars ends his three and a half month tour of duty in the waters of Cancer and reenters Leo. The sign change signals the return of motivation and enthusiasm to push forward in life. Those traits take on the quality of a spiritual mission, blazing from his first contact with Neptune, a trine April 19, which will continue to burn during his entire time in Leo, through the middle of June.”

Much to learn, much to evaluate and integrate into our soulful life’s journey… Pay attention, and practice compassion…

Celestial Blessings, Peter
