Sun & Moon at 6 of Gemini

      Conjunct Mercury; Trine Pluto

Welcome to the Supermoon of the Spring! Whenever the Moon is in perigee, that is, whenever the Moon is closest to the earth, we will see and can feel the tides of our lives move and shift with more meaningful or significant results! As a further impact, mercury, the ruler of Gemini is close by… in a wide conjunction by my standards, and being in its home sign, it carries the mental energies associated with both Gemini and Mercury and so we can expect an unusually high flow or exchange of words, ideas, concepts in our world and in our lives. (Notice… I did not say only positive, fruitful, constructive etc.)

Among the positive traits, is openness and curiosity and a willingness to entertain new or novel ideas. This openness is remarkable and encouraging as far as it goes; there is little wrong with being free of prejudice or dogma that would excessively narrow our willing to be in dialogue or to learn contrasting or supplemental ideas and points of view. However, in proper mutable sign functioning, Gemini, the opposite outlook is also true; being open too far can make us naive and vulnerable, so it is important to add objective and constructive content filters and define what are the limits to the words and ideas we are willing to accept or validate.

Lena from the Shamanic School offers us her evaluation of the lessons we can receive from this new moon. She Writes:

“If we were not recognizing yet that we are in a new cycle, this new moon will anchor that insight for us. It brings creativity, innovation and a need to reach out to others through communicating our curiosity, ideas and intentions. At the same time, it is about listening and hearing what others have to share. The higher mind seeks wisdom so be open to intuitive downloads and clarity during this time.”

Before we proceed with the important events and teaching that this new moon can provide for us, there are a few planetary preludes we need to discuss so that we can perceive more widely and more fully what this time period can hold for us.

As podcast author and astrologer April Elliot Kent puts it,

“We also welcome Gemini season this week, as the Sun and Mercury enter this curious, restless sign. They connect with Saturn and Pluto, though, which lend a much deeper quality to Gemini’s lighter thoughts and conversation. It’s a good week to focus, to have conversations that matter, and to learn things that are a little difficult.”

While it is a Gemini season, for all the reasons above and how communications-pro and con-can occupy a place of dominance in our society at this time, the really crucial and long-lasting move in the zodiac comes right as the new moon commences: It is the movement of Saturn into Aries.

At 11:35 PM ET, Saturn leaves end-of-the-world Pisces and enters Aries, where it hasn’t been since February 28, 1999, and where it will stay or reside through the 2020s! So it will be important to learn thoroughly what is in store for us, as the Saturnian influence in anyone’s chart, including our national chart, will carry an unfolding and deepening importance. …

So, be sure to look at the house that Aries occupies in your chart, and find the cusp of Aries/Pisces as there will be significant energetic influence that will be brought to bear in our lives from where Saturn “hangs his hat and plans his life for a loong stay!”

One excellent and insightful analysis of what we can expect from Saturn’s placement, comes to us from the NYC astrologer/lecture/teacher Elisabeth Grace. She combines her work with clients and adeptly expands it to cover political and economic trends, and is also an expert on hoary astrology. This description of both Saturn and Aries is wry and informative!

This what she writes:

“In the language of astrology, Saturn refers to necessary controls. Saturn keywords include structure, time, authority, ambition, the father, misers, lack, planning, reality, cold, fear, depression, blockages, hardening, streamlined, elders, aging, mortality, debt, karma, taxes, lead, vermin, cuts, losses, and Eeyore from Winnie-the-Pooh.

But hey, if we didn’t have Saturn in this 3-D hologram known as Human Experience on Spaceship Earth, we would have no sense of time. We need the constraint of time in order to function in the physical world. We need structures, too — so our soul can be contained in a physical body, which can then put a roof over its head.

Aries is a Fire sign, which is impulsive, impatient, and improvisational by nature. Aries refers to conception, babies, and ego identity — maybe even the id. The Aries mantra is “I AM.” Its execution strategy, according to fellow Aries astrologer Rick Levine is “Ready. Fire. Aim!” Aries keywords include pioneers, courage, conception, sparks, iron, warriors, the head, red, steel, diamonds, leadership, rams and ramming. If you want to get an Aries to do something, tell them it is impossible. Aries typically loves a challenge.

The first degree of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn is pivotal. It is a literal turning point. These cardinal signs mark the beginning of seasons, do they not? And this is when things change. The first degree of Aries is the biggest turning point of all, because it is the beginning of the whole astrological cycle. So, we should pay close attention to what makes news in these early days of this new beginning.

What kind of leadership and structures might we expect with Saturn in Aries? Impulsive, courageous, and improvised, justified with “Because I said so.” Authority comes down to the individual, as opposed to the rule of LAW. The rule of law is something that has been debated and discussed with significant others, and thus is aptly reflected by

Saturn is considered to be debilitated in Aries, according to traditional astrologers. How do we function in a collective society if it’s “every person for themselves” (and may well be “every man for himself,” because Aries is ruled by macho Mars). Hmm. This is what we are about to discover (again)… and looking back to where you were in April 1996 through June 1998 (when Saturn was exclusively in Aries), would be a good reference point …

This time, however, Saturn will be joined by Neptune. Not only that, but — unlike 1996, Saturn will activate the 0-degree Aries Point three times, instead of just once — on May 24th, at the end of August, and on February 13, 2026. Translation: a sense of uncertainty, perhaps, as Saturn segues between Pisces (the end) and Aries (the beginning). Your coping strategy is to appreciate that there is order in this seemingly random chaos, even if we can’t quite see it. Please also appreciate that this period of change has been scheduled in the Cosmic Calendar as a process into next year, not as a single moment in time. Clear?

… You are more personally affected by Saturn’s ingress into Aries if you have planets or angles within 2 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. … Upside potential of Saturn in Aries? Self-reliance, as a result of increased response-ability likely imposed upon us as individuals, for better or worse.”

Because of the long-rang importance of this transit of Saturn, and how it also connects with Neptune, I will also cite the summary and overview that has been written by Astrobutterfly research group. Here is what they have to say about this important shift. They write:

“On May 25, another crucial astrological shift occurs: Saturn leaves Pisces and enters Aries for the first time. Its last stay in this sign was from April 1996 to February 1999. Forward-looking power (Aries) has to deal with limitations (Saturn). It takes personal commitment to achieve goals. You will need patience and perseverance to overcome resistance, and a viable vision to have enough strength to see something through to the end.

The focus is now on action and results, and on those who have the courage to stand up for their goals. Unfortunately, the dark side of Saturn in Aries includes a tendency towards violence. It is a severe test of boundaries, and some may be tempted to pursue purely personal goals by any means at their disposal.

This year, however, Saturn will not yet be able to develop its full power. The reason for this is Neptune, which recently entered Aries. The two will meet in July for a first, not yet exact conjunction. Both then return to Pisces, Saturn at the beginning of September, and Neptune in the second half of October. In February 2026, they will meet again on the first degree of Aries.

Saturn’s structuring power will thus remain within reach of Neptune’s elusive world for some time, where many things disappear into the deep waters of the world ocean. Only when Saturn has completely detached itself from it (over the next year) will it be possible to form new, sustainable structures.”
