The Full Moon In Sagittarius
June 11, 2025, at 03:43 AM EDT
Sun at 20 Gemini; Moon at 20 Sagittarius
Wide aspects to Eris & Chiron; Square the Nodes
Welcome to the full Strawberry moon! (Despite the name, the moon won’t look pink or red (unless there’s a lunar eclipse or atmospheric haze)—it’s named after strawberry harvests. It’s also called the Rose Moon, Hot Moon, or Mead Moon in various cultures.)
This is the moon cycle that brings us into the feel of summer, the harbinger of the warmth that promises to heat up our lives in many ways! Not the least of these ways is astrologically: We have Jupiter entering into Cancer for a year-long stay last Monday…
What could this mean for you? The obvious is first: If you are a Cancer, have Cancer rising, or have planets in Cancer, this year can portend an expansion of your life in a variety of ways-depending on the house Cancer occupies. As of this week’s forecast, astrologers remind you that the Moon in Sagittarius is primary, but do not neglect where Cancer is… for the year until June 2026!
Authors and research group, Astrobutterfly offers some key concepts and assists us with this overview of Jupiter in Cancer can provide. They write:
“When Jupiter changes signs, it moves into a different whole sign house in our natal charts, shifting its influence to a different sector of our life, pointing to where these opportunities and sense of ease and growth will unfold…. With Jupiter entering Cancer, our focus, priorities, and approach to growth and meaning will shift. We’ll be less scattered – and more attuned to what creates a sense of emotional security and belonging. Things will no longer have to sound good. They have to feel right. We know that in astrology Jupiter rules things like law, religion, philosophy, and overarching worldviews – all systems that provide a frame of reference for interpreting and navigating life…. Jupiter is exalted in Cancer – which means the emotional, intuitive, and nurturing qualities of Cancer naturally align with Jupiter’s expansive qualities like optimism, coherence, and abundance. Jupiter in Cancer teaches us that recognizing, being grateful for and capitalizing on our own resources is the key to unlocking greater abundance… In Cancer, Jupiter expands whatever we choose to nurture – our home, our family, our inner world, our personal projects and investments – everything that is meaningful to us. … Cancer is a water sign, and Jupiter brings abundance – together, they create a fountain of emotional and creative richness.”
Now on to the full moon… The note here for your studies is that IF you have the Sun in Gemini or the Moon in Sagittarius, you will be more directly affected or influenced by these energies. In fact, any planet or Node that is within a degree or two of 20 degrees could become activated…
Writing from the website, Mooncircles, Simone Butler offers these words of insight concerning the importance of this moon. She writes:
“At this Wednesday’s Sagittarius Full Moon (June 11, 12:44 a.m. PT) we’re given a nudge to take that first step. This lunation, at 20 degrees Sagittarius/Gemini, squares the fateful lunar nodes. Quick decisions will be made, trips embarked on, and life-changing moves undertaken. This is an auspicious Full Moon, as two days prior, Jupiter – the Sagittarius ruler – enters Cancer, sign of its exaltation, for a full year. The giant planet functions exceptionally well in this cardinal water sign, where it strives to bring blessings, especially to all things home and family related. Yet right away Jupiter squares Saturn and Neptune in Aries, a combo that demands discipline in pursuit of a dream. … Yet the opportunity to get ahead is worth making sacrifices for….
At the Sagittarius Full Moon, we’re inspired to grow and expand. But it’s easy to go off the rails, especially for those with strong Sagittarian placements. Be patient with yourself and others, and try to be respectful of their beliefs and opinions.
There’s no guarantee that everything will turn out the way you want it to, or that problems will vanish overnight. But if you’re patient, your intrepid moves may well be rewarded. …
Be willing to face whatever comes, from delightful adventures and new friends to snowstorms, snakes and questionable marriage proposals. Have faith that goodness will prevail. Meanwhile, stay the course – and above all, don’t look back.”
Another viewpoint comes to us from Lena from the Shamanic school gives her overview of this moon and its outlook” She writes:
Also known as the Strawberry Moon, this full moon presents an opportunity to show up and to be clear about what you need and what you want. Have the courage and bravery to honor what it is that you desire and where you want your life to expand and improve. Contemplate where and how you wish to see yourself in the future. There may be reactions from others in the form of judgment or opinion, and it is best not to take anything personally.
This time can empower and support you in taking your next steps forward. With this surge of energy, make sure you are coming from a place of authenticity, an open heart and a clear and neutral mind. Speak your truth, use your creative fire, and have some fun! If you find yourself irritated or grumpy, make sure to take some space just for yourself and allow others to be just where they are in their process.
Given that this full moon is in mutable signs, that the signs both encourage communication and seeking knowledge, and that this full moon has a karmic tension with the Nodes, here is another piece of advice/guidance from astrologer April Elliot Kent. She observes:
But for every situation that really demands stark truth-telling, there’s one that calls for a little more restraint and judgment. At those moments, this piece of advice, attributed to Indian spiritual master Sai Baba, can be helpful:
Before you speak, ask yourself: Is it kind, is it necessary, is it true, does it improve upon the silence?
Oh, self-righteousness can feel so good. Setting someone straight. Telling it like it is. Few things offer the delicious jolt of freedom, of agency, of utter indifference to consequence that comes with letting fly a self-righteous screed.
But even if what you say is true, and even if you can argue for its necessity, that kind of truth-telling is never kind and almost never improves upon the silence.
This Full Moon comes at a desperately trying, heartbreaking, infuriating time. Anger is justified, but love is necessary—the love that says, “I think you’re completely wrong about what you believe, and you do stuff that makes me really, really, angry, but dammit, you’re my brother/sister, and I love your humanity!” And when you’re looking around you to total up the hypocrisies and dishonesties that need to be called out, remember to first look inside yourself for frailties. Then, if you find you still have something to say that’s big and truthful and heart-opening, open up your throat and sing out loud and strong, with love and without judgment. Make your truth as beautiful as you can. Improve the silence.
I am adding a special section this time that covers the various meanings of this full moon cycle. I have quoted Julie Peters before, as she appears regularly as a contributor to the magazine Spirituality and Practice.
“Spiritual Meaning of the June Strawberry Moon
… June’s full moon is commonly called the Strawberry Moon, a name that originated with the Lakota, Ojibwa, and Algonquin peoples. … Of course, this refers to the fact that many berries begin to ripen in June. It’s a time not only of blossoming and ripening,
but of animal babies being born. It’s also the month that contains the summer solstice (on June 21st) and the shift into a new season. European cultures have called this moon the Honey Moon or Mead Moon, perhaps referencing Juno (for whom the month is named); Juno is, of course, the Roman goddess of marriage and childbirth, and June is a traditional time for coupling and honeymooning.
All these names refer to the great fertility of this part of the year. It’s a celebration of growth and connection to the body, to food, and to the pleasures of the earth.
Rising Energy and the Spiritual Meaning of the Strawberry Moon
Spiritually, our energy shifts, in a similar way, during this time of the year. We may be feeling more energy coming from the sun and the fresh food we get to eat. The rising summer energy is powerful for acting on our intentions, making things happen, and growing our creative projects, our relationships, and our self-love practices.
This month is also a time to be paying attention to your body. The summer season is a very embodied time, where we can be out in nature—observing the plants and animals, feeling the sun and the breeze on our skin. The fall and winter are more internal and reflective, and that is a time to focus more on the spiritual world in terms of past, future, and ancestral wisdom. The summer is a time to see spirit in the material world, in the present, in pleasure, in the body. Connecting to the body is a spiritual practice, and now is the time to enjoy it.
Spiritually or energetically, this is a good month to check in with yourself on the following questions:
- Am I clear on my intentions?
- Am I acting in alignment with my own intentions?
- What have I been building in my life since the spring equinox in March?
- Am I feeling connected to my own ripening?
Finding the Flow of the Berries Ripening Moon
If you are feeling in alignment with these energies, that’s wonderful. If not so much, there are a few things you can do to get yourself in the flow of the Berries Ripening Moon. To tap the sweet and spiritual meaning of the Strawberry Moon.
- Practice pleasure. What would give your body the simple experience of enjoyment?
- See the good. What do you have to be proud of? Even small things matter.
- Eat the berries. Eat the foods that are locally in season in your area in order to draw these energies into your body.
- Smell the flowers. Get outside and take the time to receive the beauty of the natural world, feel the sun, and smell the flowers.
- Meditate with your body.”
And one last word, the website for astrological studies, Astrology Hub:
“This is the kind of Full Moon that says: be unapologetically yourself. There’s tremendous power in letting go of the pressure to perform, to please, or to fit into roles that were never truly ours. When we stop trying to be someone else or meet expectations that aren’t aligned with who we are, something shifts.” As they say, “Be yourself-Everyone else is taken!)”
In this Sagittarius light, the truth will truly set us free. And what a good feeling that is!
