Sun 18 Capricorn; Moon 18 Cancer

(no other major aspects within a 3 degree orb)

The focus of this report, by necessity, has to be a multi-directional one; while the main emphasis can be on the Capricorn full moon and its initiatives and ambitions, there are other dynamic shifts and changes that happen this month that can have a more foundational and lasting effect on the overall picture of life in coming months and years…

So, before the discussion of the moon, let’s list out the range of changes, shifts in direction that are coming our way this month:

First, and maybe most important as a preview of 2026, we can begin to watch as Uranus, the planet of communication, controversy, transformation and cultural change enter Gemini, an Air sign. Here is the pattern of travel:

Uranus enters Gemini on the 7th… stays for a while until it retrogrades into Taurus on November 8th. He stays there to clear up, change up, change whatever was unfinished, and then moves ahead into Gemini in early January 2026,l for a seven-year stay!

After holding a tenacious residence in Taurus over the last seven years. Gemini will be a far more hospitable transit; Taurus might be the least ! Taurus resists change; Gemini welcomes change! Taurus wants stability and security, Uranus wants to shake things up and rearrange your life… Now in Gemini, a call to the house re-decorator has been made!

Most importantly, we will have this preface or prelude, this view of coming attractions until the Fall, when Uranus slides back into Taurus and then with the new year, he slowly begins to take up his seven year or more permanent residence in Gemini in early 2026! More on the early effects and influences later…

From Proteus Astrology Group we are given a few more insights and a need to prepare ourselves for what Uranus has in store for us… some now, and more definitively after April 2026- for the next 7 years! Proteus writes:

“Uranus however does not mince words-he is the revolutionary speaker and truth teller. The planet in the sign can work together to assist not only the speed but the efficiency of cognitive brain functions with the mental exhaustion that comes with that as we try to consume ever greater amounts of information.”

And these descriptive words from Astrobutterfly:

“Uranus brings an influx of energy, disruption, and acceleration to the house that it transits. Uranus in Gemini asks us to open our minds and welcome ideas, experiences, and possibilities we hadn’t considered before – even those that challenge everything we thought to be true. When we embrace this change and open to a higher perspective, Uranus in Gemini becomes a supportive influence: it speeds things up, creates breakthroughs, and reveals entirely new paths.”

Astrologer and therapist Suzanne Gerber offer is this concise guideline based on where Uranus and Gemini are placed in your chart. She writes:

If Uranus falls in your 1st house, expect changes in identity, style and how you’re perceived

In the 2nd, shifts in income, cash flow, self-worth

In the 3rd, epiphanies, breaking through writer’s block, mental rewiring

In the 4th, family shakeups or a relocation

In the 5th, uptick in creativity, romantic life or children

In the 6th, changes in work, health or daily routines

In the 7th, deepening or ending of a committed relationship

In the 8th, revamping investments or shared assets, shifts in trust issues

In the 9th, new philosophical or educational pursuits

In the 10th, change in career or public reputation

In the 11th, altered social circles or activist spirit

In the 12th, spiritual growth, mental-health breakthroughs—or the opposite.

The next factor that will influence this hot summer month is the fact that Saturn will be going retrograde … .and…slowly Neptune… Chiron is not far behind… and, of course, it’s time for another Mercury retrograde that begins on the 18th! Here is your list:

Neptune on the 4th: Pisces

Saturn on the 12th: Aries to Pisces

Mercury on the 18th:Leo

Eris on the 22th: Aries

Chiron on the 31st: Aries

Here is what Astrobutterfly observes about the meaning and importance of this series of retrogrades. They write:

July 2025 is also when several planets go retrograde, marking a turning point for all of us – personally and collectively. This is a time to reflect on what we’ve seen emerging – the glimpse of what’s possible – and where we truly are at this point in our lives.

Retrogrades invite us to ‘go back’ and revisit our past experiences. When planets are in direct motion, we tend to respond or react without fully processing what’s happening.

That’s because when planets move at high speed, there’s simply not enough time to completely ‘digest’ our experiences as they unfold. It’s only when we take a step back and reflect that we gain true understanding.

July initiates this review process. This is our chance to go deeper, refine our understanding, make adjustments, correct course, and gain a broader perspective on WHY things unfolded the way they did when the planets were direct.

Keywords for these retrogrades:

Saturn: your inner sense of purpose, and our sense of personal autonomy and true sense of authority. Need to choose to be “real” truthful and authentic!

A further outline is also beneficial because this retrograde stays with until Thanksgiving time. April Elliot Kent offers these guidelines:

“This retrograde station calls back to Saturn’s journey since May 24, when it entered Aries; maybe you took on more than you bargained for, or your personal circumstances have changed since you signed up for duty, making it necessary to back away.

That’s not to say you should use this as an excuse to give up on something simply because you’ve lost interest. Persistence is a Saturnine virtue. But some challenges simply aren’t ours to undertake, and as Saturn turns retrograde, we are better able to recognize them.

And then, once Saturn turns direct (Nov. 27, 2025), we’ll be in a better position to take on the tasks that were meant for us. As Saturn turns retrograde this week (July 12, 2025, 9:07 pm PDT) at 1º56′ Aries, it’s best to avoid taking on new responsibilities. Instead, focus on commitments that you’ve already taken on – especially the ones you assumed reluctantly – and renegotiate them.

Heads up: “Mercury will be retrograde until August 11th, 2025, covering the 4°–15° Leo area of the zodiac. If you have planets or angles there, this retrograde period will be more personally relevant. If not – pay attention to the house where Leo falls in your natal chart. This is where the review, rethinking, and recalibration will unfold.” sharpen your listening skills and spend more time in reflection or contemplating… Answers can come from meditation rather than dialogues… Avoid any need to perform, convince or entertain-being yourself is enough!

Now, some astrologers will moan and speak in discouraging tones about the cluster of planets turning back and retracing their steps-only to charge ahead in the coming year.

In the case of Saturn and in comparison to Uranus, we can find ourselves spinning around, in our heads or trying to accomplish small tasks while, at the same time, lasting changes and transformations are beginning to take shape from the depths of our psyche and society, and will more visibly and permanently manifest in 2026…

There is an old truth to be retold here: the principle behind most psychotherapies is that the past has to become known before the present is better understood, so the future can better prepared to meet and greet each new day positively. While I agree that most of the month of July is more of a time for assessment than direct actions, there are still many things we will need to apply our attention and energies towards in the coming month. Let’s start with Mars in Virgo, and the Sun in Leo that is not one that reclines, and reluctantly steps away from the limelight or the stage, but enjoys being front and center this summer!

Neptune and Chiron will be outlined in the next report…

Now, on to the ambitious full moon in Capricorn…

Here is what astrobutterfly has to say as an overview of these earthy energies. They write:

“On July 10th, 2025, we will have a Full Moon at 18° Capricorn. …

Full Moons (and especially Capricorn Full Moons) want to get things done – they are achievement-oriented. And when the productive Mars in Virgo lends its precision and work ethic, this energy becomes even more effective.

There’s something that earth signs understand about the world we live in that other signs don’t – they operate from a matter-of-fact, grounded, and realistic perspective that actually works. They don’t need to overcomplicate things. They take action that’s rooted in reality. This Full Moon in Capricorn is the one to work with if you want to achieve something meaningful to you.”

Another view of the focus for this full moon comes from Lena of the Shamanic school. Here is what she advises:

“This is a good time to get organized, practical and responsible. This full moon supports hard work and discipline. You may need to put your emotions on a shelf so you can be the most productive in doing what needs to be done. If you feel overwhelmed with the responsibilities, ask for help. Your focus, discipline and attention will pay off. Encourage yourself and others to make a plan, avoid procrastination, and to do what is right. If there is karma involved, handle it in the best, kindest, compassionate way possible. If something needs completion or release, do it with neutrality.”

So, just like each moon cycle, look to see where 18 degrees of Capricorn resides in your chart, and there you will find the incentive, initiatives to get things done…

My caveat is this: After this moon arrives, and strenuously encourages your sense of accomplishment, do not be surprised IF there is a let down, or more positively expressed, a time for reflection and assessment of what has been accomplished and what is still left to do…. And you might need to wait for some time to finish the job! You, see, with all these planets going in reverse, it does not enhance making new plans or your desire to take on new responsibilities, projects etc. Given the intense heat of this summer, maybe the best advice is to “chill!”

A particularly puzzling experience is coming our way because there are so many planets clustered around the early degrees of their signs…. Once the Moon passes beyond them, say 0 to 10 degrees, there is a lot of empty space because the next aspect occurs… This time period, when the Moon travels without any aspects, is called the Void of the Moon. Here is what astrologer, lecturer, and researcher Elisabeth Grace has to say about moon voids. She writes:

“General Moon-void coping strategies are to roll with the likely twists and flakes, and don’t make a mountain out of a molehill. Crises which crop up are often much ado about nothing, resolved after the Moon gets going in the next sign. Stick to routine concerns, avoid launching new initiatives. Take time to wander and chill if you can.”

So be kind to yourself…cool down…

and learn to accept the changes that will be coming our way-starting now!
