Sun & Moon at 29 degrees; Sextile Uranus

Opposing Saturn & Neptune; Quincunx Pluto

As you are most likely aware, when there are eclipses, they come to us in pairs, usually once a year… This culminating eclipse is a partial solar eclipse; even though it will not be visible to us in the USA, it holds meaning by its placement in our charts and in our lives, but it is not as potent or as powerful as a total eclipse would be. The special qualities of the partial eclipse are summarized by Astrobuttefly as this:

“Partial eclipses are less intense, but they still bring a twist of “fate.” Because the disk of the Sun or Moon is not fully covered, these eclipses tend to be more “negotiable” and allow for more conscious participation and adjustment.”

The previous eclipse was more demanding and draining because it was a lunar eclipse which is more personal, intimate, emotional, and relational.

Here is what astrologer, April Elliot Kent reflects on, and these are a few of her remarks about the first eclipse that happened a few weeks ago. She writes:

“That Pisces Lunar Eclipse (Sep. 7) was rough. I hope things are okay in your world. I’ve been hearing stories of sudden illness, grief, and worry, which is honestly not that surprising during eclipse season.         Saturn returning to Pisces (on Sep. 1) has felt heavy, too. If you’re the sensitive type, empathetic, it may have sent you to bed with the blankets over your head. But this week, on the 18th, Mercury enters Libra and makes a flurry of aspects (the collage above represents its aspects to Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto!), and that generally heralds a busy day. And another eclipse awaits us at week’s end.”

Even with this caveat, this is an influential eclipse because of its position in the Zodiac, and because of its strong or definite interactions with some of the planets. This eclipse occupies the very last degree of Virgo, with the last degree of any sign indicating a culmination point for the activities and energies of that sign. By the calendar, it is the last gasp of Summer, and sitting very near to the door to Autumn. It is the time of harvest, and the beginning of our need to re-focus and rebalance our lives based on the coming of the Fall and the decrease in light that naturally urges us to be more inward, introspective, so we can develop an inwardly focussed rhythm to our days ahead. Because this is an important threshold in the movement of the Sun around the Zodiac and the astrological year, it holds more possibilities to challenge and change.

Note: Remembering that there are 4 Cardinal signs; Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, they are naturally connected to the change of the seasons, and these four will be more likely to instigate changes and energy shifts that when the Sun enters other signs during the year…

This threshold of moving from Summer to Fall, from Earth to Air, and both cooperating in the beginning acts of harvesting our experiences and appraising how the year has developed for us, is dramatically affected by the strong and definite aspects of Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto!

Thankfully, the planetary effects accompanying this eclipse are primarily salutary and transformative in a way that expands their gifts and graces rather than stick us with severe limitations and setbacks.

It will favor or promote the AIR sign trine; the cooperation between Uranus and Pluto concerning the Equinox and the days beyond, and the urgings of Saturn and Neptune to heed the call towards constructive and more foundational changes in our lives.

Even though, change has its difficulties, especially when you are confronted with a need to release or give up a cherished pattern or a dependency, this eclipse can be more clearly seen as the “door opening” and then moving across the new threshold that allows us to step away from any past patterns, and can affirm and assure us with a creative burst of discovery… IF we are willing to be open that inner door to those directions and dimensions of life that are new to us, and that hold the promise of new learning and new paths to travel…

There are a few important considerations, that have to be understood. They provide us with a definite place of caution. The span of these challenges or concerns range from the 21st through the 24th… knowing about it, can relax its effects and objective strategies and countermeasures can be tried…. On the 20th/21st, when the Sun opposes Saturn… Here is what Ms. Kent says about this situation:

“When the Sun opposes Saturn (Sep. 20, 2025, 10:46 pm PDT, 28º30’ Virgo and Pisces), we want to strut proudly through our territory, but Saturn’s invisible barrier holds us in check. We may experience Saturn’s boundaries in the person of a tough boss, a strict parent, or other authority figure. But often, what’s holding us back is simply our own internal glass wall. And usually, that boundary is intended to keep us safe.”

The research and study group, Astrobutterfly, gives an expanded view of what this eclipse and its messages can hold for each of us. They write:

“This New Moon Solar Eclipse … opposes Saturn, and signals an opportunity to release Virgo’s more negative expression in our lives. It’s time to release the tendency toward busywork that distracts us from the real work at hand; the urge to criticize the efforts of others; the denial of life’s poetry and magic, in favor of a rigid, rational approach….

It’s not easy to reclaim our spirits from cynicism and our everyday routines from the tyranny of file folders and post-it notes. Saturn moving through late Pisces insists that we temper even our finest Virgo impulses toward self-improvement with a commitment to the world as it is. …”

There are four planets that are involved in this eclipse: a supportive sextile from Uranus in early Gemini, later moving back into Taurus; The opposition from Neptune in early Aries, moving back into Pisces for many months;; The Trine from Pluto in early Aquarius moving back into Capricorn until 2026. They are all instrumental in their motions, as the best way to describe it is to run backwards…. Then turn and focus…  So that you can have  a “running start” and build up the energy necessary to leap forward into 2026!

As I write this report and as I have begun to look ahead to the Fall and towards the truly transformative crisis/opportunity of 2026, and what that will bring to us, The planet I will briefly focus on is Saturn; moving back from 0 of Aries crossing into Pisces for an extended stay this Fall/Winter, before moving ahead in 2026…

The elemental transition of Saturn, from being located in a Fire sign to moving back into the awkward but necessary return to Watery Pisces, indicates unfinished business with our institutions such as schools, hospitals, with the underserved and the unprivileged.

Given that it is in opposition to this eclipse, the tense limits of how well our government and its various institutions are functioning, and how well we are caring for our citizens can earn a top focus or become a chief concern. Saturn will not be fooled, nor will its energies be ignored or taken for granted! Eclipses carry a timetable; I will speculate that the larger or more complete effects or outcomes of this eclipse will manifest or become more widely or completely known in approximately 90-120 days…

While Pisces can also relate to the mystical, to dreams, and other more esoteric subjects, Saturn’s return to Pisces is a “re-inspection” or evaluation of what has been missed or what has been left undone. He focuses his discipline and determination to “clean up” any neglected situations or stagnant issues. The work is deemed necessary before Saturn is free to move toward the creative and expansive Aries again…

Not to neglect the connection to Neptune, as she grants us access to the spiritual and metaphysical worlds of possibility, it is crucial to our appreciation of what Neptune brings is to separate out illusions from reality, and frame it in a more holistic way; First, Saturn represents the past and the things left undone; some of which is championed and maintained only by social noise, confusion, anger and the inner gnawing feeling that we know and can do better!

Next, Neptune, being aligned closely to Saturn, and also being opposed to the eclipse, is not as much triggered the way Saturn is irritated and determined. Instead, Neptune offers us a way through this dilemma by encouraging new ways of responding to one another; to allow for creative expression, the freedom of thought, the flow of intuition, and the dance of the Spirit, to guide us where harsh logic and the power plays aimed at suppression and control can and will not! Let Neptune symbolize the future; if we have the will and the determination to grasp hold of it, and move courageous beyond present limitations of logic to live in harmony with the virtues and values we desire to express.

Take some time this weekend… especially on Sunday afternoon, during the eclipse – for sitting in silence and listening to your inner/higher self in prayer, meditation, or if you prefer serene or inspirational music that has no words. Maybe as you cleanse your crystals, feed the roots of your plants, try to be mindful about attending to the darkness of the moon by being more peaceful, and if necessary, alone. Maybe try a candle mediation that reminds of the inner light we all have within our hearts…

Celestial Blessings, Peter
