The Full Moon in Aries

October 6, 2025; 11:46 PM EDT

Moon in Pisces at 14 degrees; Sun at 14 degrees of Libra

Uranus trine Pluto, Sextile Neptune, Square Mercury

Lena, from the Shamanic school, leads off our discussion of this month’s full moon with an emphasis on the Arian energy and activity this moon can provide. She writes:

“Known as the Harvest Moon, this moon invites us to reflect on the past 6 months, our lessons, accomplishments, goals, intentions, choices, what has changed and where we still need to take some action. The fiery aspect of this full moon supports igniting passion for what we truly want. It can also bring tension and an energy of strife. Use it to break through some limiting belief or situation. Instead of becoming irritable, it is important to acknowledge priorities and make space and time for them. Too many things on your plate could ignite overwhelm instead of inspiration.

Relationships are highlighted during this time, asking us to increase our depth of connection where important and to carve out time for those connections. You may need to set some boundaries around your time to ensure some of that connection time is for yourself. Acknowledge your own personal harvest of lessons learned and intentions realized. Use discernment to release any intentions that are no longer aligned in order to make room for a good reset.”

I have always found it a moon to respect and to be wary of its runaway possibilities! Overall, Aries might be the moon and sign that is least likely to be trained, tamed, or controlled by any energy or impulse she has!

That is not to say, she is always a “wild card” or an immature and petulant child! No, she is also a brace and courageous pioneer, a classic adventure, a person who fosters and creates positive breakthroughs in knowledge, and someone who is unafraid of any outer obstacles while being willing to confront any inner demons she might have!

Following in the martial metaphor for this fiery full moon, we have the analogy of who and what we should fight for from the thoughts of April Elliot Kent. In her astrological musings, she gives us this storyline:

“It’s a familiar story: A powerful man, enthralled by the ego’s need for control and adoration, is ultimately driven mad by the dark deeds carried out by his lieutenants. Whenever Aries/Mars energy goes rogue, it’s a pretty good bet that someone’s ego is feeling threatened. …

This Aries Full Moon is activating the knight in us, (Mars) and it’s important that we also consciously summon our inner wise and temperate rulers.  The Sun)

Act in good faith. Admit your mistakes. Practice forgiveness. If there’s a real threat, let your gallant knight draw his sword. But if you find yourself pledging vengeance, summoning a henchman to do your dirty work and avenge your ego, remember what kind of monarch you want to be. Remember that you want to remain the hero of your own story—and that calls for the help of a virtuous knight, not a villainous one.”

Another point of view is given to us from Simone Butler of Mooncircles. She writes:

“This lunation is traditionally known as the Hunter’s Moon due to its association with the hunting season in the Northern Hemisphere. But this year it’s also the Harvest Moon because it occurs closest to the autumnal equinox, providing extended light to gather crops. So, will you be hunting or gathering – or both?  The questing Hunter’s Moon asks: What are you on the hunt for? What can you no longer live without?

And the Harvest Moon helps you bring in the crops of your past efforts and share them with others. This fiery Full Moon might even help you light a match to burn away the past and move on.”

A larger perspective, away from any militancy in metaphor or action, comes to us from Astrobutterfly’s research and commentary on the axial energies of the full moon’s Aries to Libra polarity. They write:

“On October 6th, we have a Full Moon at 14° Aries.

Without ‘interference’ – aka aspects from other planets – the Full Moon in Aries will do exactly what it’s supposed to do: expose the dynamic tension of the Aries-Libra axis, this eternal dance of individuality vs. partnership.

The Full Moon will spotlight where it may be necessary to draw boundaries in our relationships and stand up for our own needs. The Aries Full Moon might also remind us that the changes we expect in others might need to start with what we can control: ourselves.

If we want others to accept us for who we are – do we accept them for who they are? If we expect others to meet our needs – do we engage in a type of relating where they can meet theirs, too?

Too much Aries, and we get full-blown independence. No one bothers us, but we’re all by ourselves. Too much Libra, and we get co-dependence – where, without the Other, we don’t know who we are.

The integrated path is interdependence – that space where each person retains their autonomy AND grows together, through a balanced give and take.”

This last weekend, I was invited to participate in a day-long workshop on cosmology and Astrology, hosted by The Sophia Institute in Charleston. (<info@thesophiainstitute.org>)

Among the experts in this presentation were a cosmologist, Jude Currivan, famous and internationally known astrologer Pam Gregory, and Rick Tarnas, a philosopher and futurist who writings such as Cosmos and Psyche, has posited how astrology can correlate to personal and to global events within our ensouled universe! I found his summary of how depth psychology, philosophy, (and I would add panentheism or inclusive theology) have developed, supported each other synergistically, and assist us in informing us of the future-both personal and cosmic!

Dr. Currivan and Ms. Gregory spoke about potential earth changes and from a more “galactic” perspective, how the trans-Neptunian planets, asteroids and comets etc., could influence or affect us! They mentioned that all the weather phenomena, and climate changes could be cyclic and be the harbingers of the change of consciousness in our world!

Without trying to cover all they implied and speculated on, they mentioned the possible influence of a comet that will be streaking through our solar system this month and how it might affect us… Their outlook could correlate with the possible disruptive influence of the trine between Uranus and Pluto, accompanied by the sextile from Neptune, and the opposition of Mercury to Pluto… While I cannot easily concur, it will be an interesting phenomenon to observe or witness!

A last consideration I will include is a simple yet thoughtful meditation as a lunar ritual from Dana Gerhard of Mooncircles. She outlines the ritual in these words:

“Harvest Moon Ritual

But before you leap ahead, bless yourself with a little Moon magic. This ritual is a simple revision of an ancient lunar ceremony—one that begins not with action, but with reflection. On the morning of the Harvest Moon, write this question in your journal:

“What seed, planted earlier this year, do I want to see ripen into full sweetness by the year’s end?”

Return to this question several times throughout the day. Let your answers tumble out like fruit spilling into a basket.

On the night of the Harvest Moon, as the Sun sets and moonrise begins, choose the seed that feels most alive, the one glowing with ripeness. If you can, step outside to a private place. Stand beneath the sky, open and unguarded—undressing if the night is mild, or simply imagining the feeling of being bare to the Moon’s light. Nakedness was often required in old lunar rites, but here it is also a metaphor: to be unarmored, vulnerable, and receptive.

With your eyes on the Moon, gently scrub or stroke your skin as though you were bathing in her beams. Breathe, soften, and when you feel ready, remember the seed you wish to ripen. Ask Luna to bless it. Ask her to energize your good fate. Then turn your eyes skyward and watch for her response:

  • If the Moon glows steadily, it’s a quiet yes.
  • If the Moon brightens, it’s a resounding yes!
  • If a cloud drifts across her face, you may need to refine or re-shape your wish. Fortunately, the Harvest Moon lingers for three nights, so you can try again.

This ritual is simple, but it reconnects you with the oldest magic: standing under the open sky, asking for guidance, and offering your heart’s desire to the Moon. Like fields ripening under autumn’s hand, your seed is ready for ripening. May what you long for come to fullness in the season ahead.

Celestial Blessings, Peter
