    The Scorpio New Moon

November 20, 2025 at 1:46 AM EST

Sun & Moon at 28 degrees conjunct Rx Mercury

Trine Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune; opposes Uranus

For much of the last two weeks, and continuing into next week, we have been “treated” to the influences and effects of a Grand Water Trine. It is Grand in that it includes three planets, in differing places in the horoscope or in your charts, being approximately in the trine aspect of 120 degrees. (+ or – 6 degrees) It is also a trine because it involves planets that share the same element. They are synergistic; being of the same element, water. They are aligned or attuned to one another and will emphasize their shared qualities, energies and effects.

Being the water element, it will more closely align itself with changes that can be felt in the emotional areas or arenas of life; Often focussing on how one feels about themselves, and/or how one releases and responds to any partnerships or relationships you have. It will be a time of heightened intuition, and the veil between the higher dimensions of mind and heart will be more transparent and more readily observed and understood. It is a time for releasing any old stories you repeat about yourself- listening for a higher and better way to define and refine your sense of identity.

If you focus on Jupiter in Cancer, that remains in Cancer for 2025-26, your feelings might focus on home, family land etc., and other subjects that are under Cancer…  and how they can be enlarged to your benefit or be expanded to be in alignment with your aspirations.

IF you focus on Saturn and Neptune in Pisces, you could feel the need for structure and boundaries  and on what needs to be released or let go from your past so that you have more room and more quiet for your daily well being. Saturn lingers in Pisces until next February, when it leaves and begins its two and half year sojourn through Aries. Allow Saturn to do his work in rebuilding any neglected areas, tear down when needed or necessary, and offer a more stable and secure foundation for your future.

Neptune would offer intuitive clues and inspirational messages about what new directions to take and what traps in your self understanding you need to avoid.

And given the potency of this new moon as the 3rd leg or angle of this trine, your comprehension of those Scorpionic factors in your life will be heightened or made to be more obvious and compelling! Without recalling all of those traits and tendencies, look to where you feel pressure to act; consider how the depths of your feelings can reveal your attachments as well as your loyalties; and depending on where Scorpio is located in your chart, those house issues will come forward and demand some attention- especially IF they have been neglected for some time…

A last consideration is to remember the influence of Mercury…still retrograde and now moving into Scorpio for a short visit, before moving onto Sagittarius in December, it asks us to look more deeply into any patterns of thought or communication that needs honesty and clarity…

Being retrograde, the complementary opposite of speaking- listening-that becomes an essential, desired trait and an effective ally. However, being in Scorpio, it is NOT listening to the status quo, to the popular media, or any of the many “news” outlets!

It is listening thoughtfully and willingly to your intuition, to your earnest and sincere longings, and to your heart’s requests.  Only when you are so informed ( and hopefully inspired)  will you be ready for next week’s Sagittarius push forwards… So as a point of awareness and caution, I would reserve making any new wishes, hopes, or desires you wish to activate until after the 20th, when Mercury can be a supportive influence

on them…

As the research group, Astrobuttefly puts it:

“It’s trusting that inner whisper – the knowing that makes no logical sense yet feels right, the recognition you can’t explain yet instantly understand, the truth that rises from the part of you that never lies because it’s encoded in the DNA of who you are. It’s in trusting that inner instinct that your deeper, personal truth reveals itself.

Do not hunt for it. Do not look for ‘hints’ in transits or the natal chart. It will not come that way. It will arrive as a deeper knowing – something you may not be able to articulate, but will resonate with the essence of your being.”

When it conjoins the Sun or becomes Combust , it will be an intense, focussed reminder of any of the Scorpionic areas that need to be revisited…again, look to where Scorpio is in your chart for how this urge or the message might be needed or delivered!

As astrologer Lynn Hayes puts it:

“This is therefore a week of illumination, but maybe not for action as we are still in a place of heavy retrogradation (Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are all retrograde, as well as Chiron). It is quite rare for five planets to be retrograde at once, and these periods are best used for reflection and assimilation since the planets tend to direct our attention into the past [for an honest and soulful] review. Patience and persistence is the key this week!”

In support of those conclusions, astrologer Lena from the Shamanic School gives her assessment through these words: She wries:

“This is a potentially volatile, intense and unstable time designed to get you moving out of your comfort zone, pushing the envelope and breaking through obstacles that have plagued your path forward for a time now.

Take advantage of sudden change and uncertainty to birth a new cycle, a project that has been on the back burner, a new attitude, or a new practice you have been meaning to include in your life.

We are still in a time of inner processing, refining what is important and getting clarity from our hearts. Use your emotional intuition as a compass and use patience as an ally as you move into your next step. Others around you may be challenged as well.  Stay in your own lane, but hold a compassionate space for people to go through what they need to.”

One of the highlighted traits of Scorpio and one that will be emphasized during this week’s new moon is the desire for answers; Scorpios are the most curious, maybe the most demanding, when it comes to their insistence to probe, penetrate and to discover any hidden answers that might elude or confuse other people!

Here is what Simone Butler, writing in the Mooncircles newsletter, has to say about these qualities and traits. She writes:

“Since this New Moon is exactly conjunct Mercury at 28 Scorpio and widely conjunct Venus at 16 Scorpio, there’s a lot of intense, transformative energy afoot. The Sun, Moon and Mercury are opposite Uranus in Taurus, prompting unexpected events or sudden breakthroughs. We could call this the detective’s moon.

Sleuthing is heightened with Mercury in Scorpio, and communication, travel and figuring things out are intensified (though perhaps a bit scrambled) due to its retrograde through Nov. 29.

If you have problems to solve, even long-standing ones, tackle them over the next few weeks. Ask for help from the Other Side. The ancestors are still very much present; pay attention to any promptings or dreams.

Especially helpful is the current exact trine between Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn in Pisces. Jupiter is the king of luck (which is strongly connected to gratitude) and it’s exalted during its sojourn through Cancer through next June.

Jupiter is also trine Neptune, though not as exactly, enhancing spiritual, artistic and romantic affairs. The Scorpio New Moon forges a grand trine with all three planets, so magic is in the air. You might even be able to manifest a long-held dream with the help of this configuration at 25 – 28 Cancer/Scorpio/Pisces, especially if those degrees and signs aspect your chart.”

All this can be considered necessary preparation for our ability to garner the most blessings from the holiday season! The Sun arrives in Sagittarius on the 22nd; ready to apply what we have learned and assimilated are our soulful lessons and to apply our insights as we begin to shape our future that awaits us  in 2026…

Celestial Blessings, Peter
