Venus Trine Jupiter; Mercury goes Retrograde

What does it mean? How could it impact our lives and our world?

As I am sure you know by now, we will be experiencing a novel and powerful event on February 20th. It will be the first known alignment of the planets Saturn and Neptune at the zero degree of Aries in recorded history!

While the cycle is well known to astrological researchers who will quickly remind us that many of us have already lived through the last two conjunctions: 1953 and 1989, and one can list the historical events that are considered to be aligned with these meetings, this one is readically different and far more powerful or influential on both the personal level and on the larger scale of our civilization and national focus!

So much has been written in anticipation of this cosmic event, yet I am aware that many of the words written can be grandiose and obtuse, bound to the personal or the practical…

Rather than repeat all of those specializations and more elaborate and far-reaching views, I have combed through many of these accounts and writings, and have decided to keep all the information more succinct, and l;imit it to my usual 5-page report…That will be my more personal emphasis rather than world events!

One of the primary premises for understanding this alignment is to see that it carries an overall theme of ending old assumptions, attitudes, structures, and what we had depended on as being substantial and true. It informs us of a new era, a new beginning, a new way to live our lives and relate to our world… in a word, it is an emergence…

Here are a few collected and edited thoughts from other astrologers who have investigated the potentials of what will unfold and become our new foundations for our future lives. It can serve as a recap and as a reference point for future guidance.

From astrological research of David Nocol:

“This conjunction occurs at 0 degrees Aries — the first degree of the entire zodiac and an exceptionally potent symbol of new beginnings. It is believed that Saturn and Neptune last met at 0 degrees Aries more than 6,000 years ago. This means that an extraordinarily long cycle of time is coming to completion, bringing historically significant endings and beginnings.

Saturn is the principle of form, matter, substance, structure. It governs manifestation in 3D reality. Neptune is the formless ground of reality: pure consciousness, Source, Mystery, Brahman.

When these giants meet, we experience a thinning of the veil — forms we thought were solid dissolve into the formless, while profound new realities and directions can materialize from the depths of consciousness.

At the collective level, Saturn conjunct Neptune often entails the dissolution of the old order. This can happen quite quickly, as in the previous Saturn-Neptune conjunction in 1989 when the Berlin Wall collapsed and the Soviet Union disintegrated.

On a personal level, this transit can be a sober, disorienting, and challenging passage, involving the loss of an ideal, dream, role, or identity that has come to define us. Yet it also frequently serves as a profound initiation into a new way of being that is more humble,  grounded in reality, and spiritually mature. “

From the research group, Astrobutterfly:

“But what makes this particular conjunction so special is that it occurs at 0° Ariesthe navel of the zodiac. The Zero degree is the threshold between 360 degrees of accumulated experience and something entirely new. …

Zero Aries means there is no story. That’s where we create it. The Saturn-Neptune conjunction on February 20th, 2026, happens at Zero Aries. The conjunction itself is a zero-degree aspect – it means that the 2 planets are separated by zero degrees, which basically means they are not separated at all – they are together, blended….

Zero Aries is not just “the first degree” – it’s the origin point of the zodiac. It’s the place where archetypes have not yet differentiated, the moment before form takes shape. Zero Aries is pure potential, and from that potential, something will emerge, setting the direction for both Neptune’s and Saturn’s cycles.

The effects won’t be immediate, because 0° Aries is an emergence point – and full manifestation still has to operate under Saturn’s time-based rules. But what’s important here is that something fundamentally important will be ignited. And that out of the infinite possibilities of Zero, we have the opportunity to consciously participate in what emerges. We can do that by consciously aligning ourselves with the Zero moment.

Everything changes now. With Saturn and Neptune in Aries, the new myth is no longer a narrative we are told from the outside, but one we step into and shape ourselves.

As Saturn crosses that zero point, it moves into a space where the old rules no longer apply and where there is no return to unconscious living. We’re no longer in the Matrix – and we can no longer be – because once reality checks in, once we see what we see, we cannot unsee it.

Zero is where the old story no longer holds any power over us. Whether confusing, chaotic, or deeply relieving, the point zero reality leaves us no choice but to BE who we really are. …

When Saturn and Neptune finally meet on February 20, 2026, the seed is irreversibly placed into new soil. From that moment on, there is no more adjusting or rewriting the story.

The Saturn-Neptune conjunction at 0° Aries on February 20 is the line in the sand. With Saturn in Aries, our own “Atlantis” – or whatever name we give to our personal dream or vision – will rise from underwater. It will be given form, structure, and direction.

From writer and astrologer, April Elliot Kent

“Many of us alive now have lived through Saturn/Neptune conjunctions – they meet every 36 years or so, most recently in 1989-90 – but not at this particular degree. Zero degrees Aries is the origin point for all life and creation, and Saturn and Neptune have not met here during recorded history.

In a sense, then, we are at the rebirth of civilization. And raw life force is igniting in each of us to move us ahead with courage, wisdom, and an innate connection to the divine (or a force greater than our conscious selves).

The immediate result is not aggression, but free-flowing tenderness and nurturing. Venus trines Jupiter on February 20 and immerses us in energies and situations that feed and soothe us, as well as fuel the fighting spirit igniting in us.”

This week’s Saturn-Neptune conjunction (Feb. 20, 2026, 8:54 am), a collision between reality and illusion, is complex. You’ll be reading and hearing an awful lot about it, and none of your reading or listening will be time wasted.

For example, you’ll learn about Saturn-Neptune and the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Union at the conjunction of 1989; at the conjunction in 1953, the polio epidemic and Salk’s vaccine, the peak of McCarthyism, and the death of Stalin.

But I’m especially interested in how big transits like this one express themselves in the human-scale stories of regular people like you and me. Saturn and Neptune conjoin only every 36 years or so, so each of us lives through only two or three of them. And preparing to change my career was a huge story for me personally, even if it can’t compare to the beginning of the end of the Cold War, or Salk developing the vaccine that would have saved my mother from polio a decade earlier.

We’re all being impacted by the state or the world, the things that are being broken down so that a new vision can emerge. And at this Saturn/Neptune conjunction, at the first degree of Aries, you may very well be on the brink of one of your life’s personal Big Transitions. Where are you hoping to break down the limits that have you feeling stuck, to move in a new, exciting direction?

On the day of this conjunction, why not build a ritual that acknowledges this big moment? The house of your chart that holds 0 degrees Aries, and any planets close to this degree (or its opposite or square points: 0 Libra, 0 Cancer, or 0 Capricorn) describe how you’re being impacted, and where you are ready to manifest a big change.

So that is my boiled down advice: Look at your chart, see where 0 Aries lands, and consult the meaning of that house and any aspects that 0 Aries Saturn and Neptune make to your natal planets. That will give youthe most concise and most direct sense of how these emerging energies could influence you…

As for the upcoming Mercury retrograde, we have these guidelines from author and astrologer columnist, Kathy Biehl:

“The emotional side of life continues to wash over us as Mercury begins its first retrograde of the year, from February 27 to March 20, all in the sign of Pisces. That sign may make this stretch extra woozy-making, so apply the usual cautions with steroids: Double-check fine print. Don’t assume the other side of a conversation thinks you’re talking about the same thing, even if you’re using the same words. Put off major agreements and purchases. Go over old business and conversations and see what you misunderstood.

While we’re fishtailing, our collective and individual drive gets a blast and achieves a breakthrough when Mars squares Uranus, pushing for action on his time in Taurus (since 2018, remember), on February 27. By month’s end, we gain incredible clarity about what we really, truly want and value when Mercury and Venus meet on February 28. Since they’re not in a verbal mode, this clarity may come through music, or dreams, or simply a knowing.”
