This is a summary of the previous week’s daily meditations. Some are written by Matthew Fox (MF) and some are written by his colleague, Gianluigi Gugliermetto. (GG)

March 23, 2026: Current America: Important Stories From Today’s News (MF)

Today we look at some of the news stories of the day: 1) Health insurance premiums have doubled for 20 million Americans while the illegal war in Iran is costing $1 billion per day.

2) Of 23 cabinet members, 20 have given direct payments to President Trump or his pet projects totaling $30 million. Corruption in plain sight.

3) Robert Reich reports that “Paramount is on the verge of becoming the largest pro-Trump media monopoly in America.”

4) Nexstar Media Group, Inc. merged with TEGNA Inc. The Attorney General of California calls this “a clear violation of federal antitrust laws and FCC rules.” It would constitute a “gut punch to our democracy that relies on an informed population.”*

March 24, 2026: No Kings Day Satire & Hartmann on How America Was Poisoned (MF)

As millions prepare to attend the huge nationwide protest this Saturday, some use satire as their weapon of choice. Take, for instance, the group Trillionaires for Trump. Put on your finest Gilded Age evening wear and you too can join the ranks of the .000001% on our mission to highlight how our system of government serves the interests of wealthy elites rather than the People….

Meanwhile, Thom Hartmann fights fascism with articulate intelligence. This week he published an article called, “America Didn’t Just Change—It Was Systematically Poisoned.”** He writes about how big money has completely corrupted politics. “Republicans on the Supreme Court legalized” this “democracy-killing corruption.”
‘No Kings’ protest movement ‘matters in the biggest possible way’

“It matters in the biggest possible way.” Third Act co-founder Bill McKibben insists mass gatherings, such as those planned on March 28, empower Americans. MS NOW

March 25: Awakening as Immersion and Changing of the Mind (GG)
Five people, including Gianluigi, and with the supervision of Matthew, have put together a Creation Spirituality retreat to take place in Sardinia in late May.

It’s called “Awakening the Divine Human: An Immersion in the Living Wisdom of Creation Spirituality.” The focus will be on “immersion moments” in the sea, in caves, in hot pools, in nature. In Jungian terms, the soul will be leading the experience, rather than the intellect. Later in the day there will be exchanges within a small group context. Also, there will be three live sessions with Matthew.

The island of Sardinia was chosen because it offers the possibility of connecting to the ancestral traditions of humankind in a pristine natural environment. It will be a time of deep, sacred listening.

March 26, 2026: Sardinia as Mother (GG)

GG tells us about some of the things he dearly loves about Sardinia. First, the people are incredibly warm without being intrusive. Secondly, in Sardinia, he says, there are more Neolithic and Bronze Age sites than any other place on earth.

GG says: In short, there is something incredibly premodern going on in the Sardinian soul, and I am convinced that living Sardinians are embedded in a stream of tradition that goes back, not centuries, but millennia. GG also shares a story from a man about his childhood, the lesson of which is this: Water is sacred. Don’t waste it.

March 27, 2026: She Was Enthroned (GG)

Recently, Bishop Sarah Mullally was installed as Archbishop of Canterbury — thus, head of the Church of England and titular head of the Anglican Communion. A woman being ceremonially seated on a sacred throne, which was a place of power reserved only for men for fourteen centuries, is something to be noted, if not celebrated.

The ceremony made GG think of Mary, so often depicted on a throne in Medieval and Renaissance art. The goddess Isis usually is as well. GG was especially moved by the fact that when the ecumenical covenant among Christian churches in Britain was presented, the people chosen to speak were two women bishops which, with Archbishop Mullally, made a triad of women. How refreshing!

March 28, 2026: Marching on No Kings Day: What’s It All About? (MF)

Walking can be a spiritual practice. Matthew mentions several examples: 1) Years ago he participated in many “walking meditations” in Oakland led by Thich Nhat Hahn.

2) In February of this year, 23 Buddhist monks completed a 2300-mile “Walk for Peace” across the USA, drawing tens of thousands of Americans yearning for peace.

3) After Rabbi Heschel walked with MLK, Jr. in Selma, Alabama, he told his daughter, “I felt my feet were praying.”

4) Just this week, Bishop Mullally, before her official coronation as archbishop, chose to eschew arriving by carriage or car and instead walked the six-day, 87-mile journey from London to Canterbury. 5) And then today, Saturday, tens of millions of Americans will protest the authoritarian regime currently ruling this country in a historic No Kings rally and march. We march for truth and justice, compassion and peace.
