Eris & Chiron with Sun & Moon

Welcome to this fiery New Moon in Aries!

Some of our best astrological researchers would claim that this week is of vital energetic importance for the rest of the year… I tend to agree! It is truly a rare event! By many planetary calculations, it has not occurred for over 25 years!

Our collective feet are firmly stomping down on the gas pedal as we will have no less than 5 planets and heavenly bodies in Aries- ready and eager, impatient, and creatively want to express themselves and create some wide open possibilities!

As a quick overview, let me say that we will begin the week and the time before the new moon more modestly, with Mercury leaving Pisces for a new, exciting, and more electric journey through Aries. We begin on Wednesday to feel the fiery shifts become active and ready to go!

Some more mundane astrologers already see the shift beginning with the political overthrow of the despot Orban in Hungary, but that is another matter, as politics is everywhere, and ready to be read and spread!

When Wednesday arrives, the actions become more present and inescapable as the Moon, now in Aries, begins her sojourn through progressive conjunctions with the planets; first to Mercury, then Neptune,  and before the day is through, Saturn.

She is supported energetically to become more deliberate and intense by making an advantageous sextile of Mercury to Pluto, so the actions of this time period can be seen as more deliberate and focused. Later in the week, when blended with the sextile of Mars to Pluto, there are definite actions during the time when the new moon shifts from Aries to Taurus!

As I earlier mentioned, this time period is enhanced by the rare phenomenon that astrologers call a stellium. The consensus definition of a stellium occurs when 3 or more planets (including the Sun and Moon) occupy the same sign or the same house. They have to be closely knit or rubbing shoulders as they cannot be any further than 9 degrees apart…

A concentration of energies and qualities to be sure!

There are 8 conjunctions in Aries this month! Due to the relative speed of these clustered planets, the force or the influence of these fiery placements could linger through the next few weeks, and some research says until Mars, Aries’ ruling planet, leaves for Taurus on May 19th!

In an extended look at this week, we have the widely read and expected astrologer, Kaypatcha, who gives us his impression of what we can expect from this week, from this new moon, and how it potentially impacts our lives and our world. He writes:

“With a stellium, it’s important to note the order of the planets, which, with these transits, is changing.  First, Mars enters Aries on Thursday and hits Neptune, then Saturn, then Eris, and finally Chiron before exiting.  Hence, we can interpret that Mars will shoot for the Moon (so to speak) with some very unrealistic expectations as it joins with dreamy, idealistic Neptune.

Then it will move on and hit Saturn on April 18th, and get really pissed off as Saturn will block, stop, inhibit, and try to correct its ways.  He’ll then march on and hit Eris on May 12th, and the two of them will raise holy hell together.

Finally, on May 16th, he’ll hit Chiron for a healing crisis that could well involve hemorrhaging.  This foretells a difficult time ahead.

This brings me to the point I want to make, that from the 3/4 Moon this Thursday all the way through to the New Moon on the 17th, everything will be blowing up, falling apart, and chaos will reign as she signals some final endings prior to the new beginning.  And even the new beginning, like many births, may well be painful and bloody with the concentration of energy remaining in Aries.

However, THAT IS THE WORLD PICTURE THAT WE DON’T NEED TO BUY INTO, FOLLOW, STRESS ABOUT, AND FEAR.  Our job during all of this is to Saturnly keep our composure, discipline ourselves, our instincts, our emotions, and our actions to respond maturely rather than react, and go about our business, as warriors that will guard, protect, and proceed in spite of hostile opposition, oppression, news, or fear.  This is a great initiation, and we will all be tested to our core.  We can do this!

Advanced initiates will continue to love, laugh, create, and build, perhaps with greater determination than before.  May the force be with you!”

In his columns, he often includes the song of the week or one that connects to his observations. In this case, he has chosen the George Harrison classic:

“Give Me Love”

Another softer and more toned-down outlook comes to us from astrologer Lynn Hayes. Here are her observations and conclusions:

“The last time a stellium of planetary bodies gathered in Aries was in April 2011, coinciding with the height of the Arab Spring rebellion, which spread throughout the Middle East. Now the Middle East is ablaze once again.

When there is this much Aries energy in the sky, we are all affected in one way or another, but the specifics of the effect will depend on how the Aries planets affect our own chart. This April stellium includes the Saturn/Neptune conjunction in Aries, which demands accountability in areas where we have been too brash. The fact that expansive Jupiter, which encourages confidence and optimism, is locked in a challenging aspect to most of the Aries planets also suggests that a dose of caution will go a long way to ameliorating some of the explosive potential of this combination.”

Additionally, from my more cautious perspective, while many more dramatic events and experiences could unfold or manifest, it is always crucial to hold on to a more holistic view, to remember the positive expressions of Aries energy, too!

There are new adventures and new avenues for living life more fully and more courageously… There are new inventions and creative ways to discover and to pioneer in unknown areas or to engineer breakthroughs… and it is important to remember that without the fire element glowing and heating up our lives, we can lack the necessary motivation for the ideas and ideals of change that are important and necessary for our own healing and personal growth!

This last point can be emphasized because the new moon is conjunct with Chiron. Classically known as the “wounded healer,” it is also symbolic of any sense of abandonment or being ostracized.

This new moon and its creative and transformative energies can assist us in coming to a greater sense of wholeness, to remember our wounds as an earned source of wisdom, and to reconcile them with an open heart. Identification of our wounds can lead us to an acknowledgment of our wonders, and it can initiate a new approach to claiming our soulful truth along with any genuine sense of self-esteem.

The New Moon herself happens on Friday, the 17th…. And in many ways, this first new moon of the astrological year can signal the beginning of what portends to be a tumultuous year, filled with the impetus for change and the desire for reforms…For many of us, the day just before, the 16th, will give us heed or a warning… It is the beginning of an exposure or an opening for our consciousness… The 17th is the moon, and as she moves through the day, she will now anchor herself in the early degrees of Taurus, and the two days after the 18th and 19th, or until the Sun moves into Taurus, could be the most tumultuous or transformative in our lives or across our world…

Some points to remember, as many of the descriptions being offered across in the media and the astrological landscape can feel ominous or even threatening.  Do not make them too wide and too universal! Narrowing down who could be most affected would be anyone with the 27th degree prominent in their chart- especially those in the axial or Cardinal signs of Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn… Next, any of us who have planets in the signs Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, as the planets moving through Aries will either square or, in the case of Libra, oppose your planets, activating them and bringing out their potential stress points and challenges!

I would give special attention to any of us who have their rising sign or crucial conjunctions here…

The overall focus for this new moon can be found in where the moon and all these Aries planets are located in your chart; the house they are in will be the focal point, and of course any Aspects or connections to planets that are there in your natal chart…

Enjoy all this creative and transformative energy!

Celestial Blessings, Peter
