Sun & Moon at 25 degrees

Mars conjunct Chiron; Trine Asc;

Sun & Moon Quincunx Asc

Welcome to the more “laid-back” world of Taurus energies! I have heard from quite a few people that all those Aries assertive and challenging energies of the last month were exhausting and they would welcome a rest… well, at least the stresses of life and one’s work responsibilities that have dialed it down a few channels or degrees!

In that regard, I am happy (and yes, I am a little relieved!) to report that this Taurus Sun & Moon new moon is known as one of the more relaxed and less striving outlooks on life… They tend towards calm, rest, and letting the world go by a little bit more than the usual pace we have had to maintain!

Here is what April Elliot Kent has to say about this new moon in Taurus:

“This week’s Taurus New Moon (on May 16) is the best all year for reuniting with your senses and making your body feel truly good. Enjoy some outdoor exercise, simmer a fragrant soup, smooth on some of that fancy lotion you got as a gift, stream some of your favorite music.

Let your body be your wise guide not just to enjoying temporary pleasure, but to building good sensations that can sustain you for a lifetime.

There is a quality shared among Taurus people that, If allowed by life and its circumstances, a more peaceful and sensual approach is preferred…”

Another earthy, lively, and sensual description comes to us from Simone Butler, who writes in the Mooncircles newsletter. Here are her observations:

Taurus season (which we’ve been in since April 19) is all about the sensual pleasures of life. At the Taurus New Moon (May 16, 1:01 p.m. PT), we’re reminded to re-inhabit our body temples and find pleasure in simple things – in the garden, with our beloved, indulging in a wonderful meal or massage.

As the Sun and Moon unite at 25 Taurus, they’re supported by a sextile from luxuriant Jupiter in Cancer. And they’re joined by Mercury at 28 Taurus – broadcasting the message of earthiness, prosperity, and sensuality. …

Draw forth all that you need from the body of the Earth. Held in the gentle embrace of our care, you will slowly remember how to eat again, how to sleep and dream again, how to feel the guidance of the earth beneath your feet again.

You will remember how to speak with the trees and birds and clouds and breeze. Only when you have recovered from the easy experience of your own body, close to other bodies that nourish and protect you, will you be able to recognize your own desires.

Before you can recover the old ways of making love, you must first feel loved by all that is.” Happy Taurus New Moon!

Most Taurians or those with Taurus prominent in their charts enjoy the “finer things of life” and will appreciate quality wherever they see it; they will choose gold, the gourmet, the beautiful in music, fabrics, etc., and are not particularly interested in settling for anything that would be considered “less than” in our society… More refined, yet demanding high standards!

Now that is NOT to say, like their animal archetype, that a bull will not become riled up, agitated, and even forceful in warding off threats or responding to danger… it is just not their preferred approach that allows for a more gentle grazing in the fields of life…

This new moon arrives on the 16th, and in and of itself, that date contains some influential energies and possibilities for our consideration… More specifically, it has a very powerful and potentially alchemical action associated with its meeting, when Mars conjoins with Chiron at the tail end of Aries….. And then soon after, there is the entry of Mercury into his own sign of Gemini, conjoining Uranus….

Here is how the research group, Astrobutterfly, describes this meeting:

“On May 16th, 2026, Mars is conjunct Chiron at 28° Aries. Since 2018, Chiron in Aries has been helping us heal our wounds of identity – and with Mars, the planet of self-assertion joining in, old wounds resurface. The Mars-Chiron transit can bring back situations where we felt disempowered, bullied, or dismissed. Times when our boundaries were crossed, and we either didn’t know how to hold them, or felt we weren’t allowed to.

This is the final Mars-Chiron conjunction in Aries (at least for the next 4+ decades). Looking back now, we can recognize that the struggles – the times we were walked over, treated as if we don’t matter, and all the stories we’ve been telling ourselves along the way that ‘there must be something wrong with me’ – were never true.

This is where it ends. No more crossing the line. Who we are and what we want matter. And as long as you’re not trampling on someone else’s right to the same, we don’t have to accept anything that won’t let us be ourselves.”

Since the new moon is on the 16th, it is not a solitary experience as she has company with the ingress of Mercury entering one of its favorite signs, Gemini! Yes, no matter how personally important that can be- and it is to those who have Gemini strong in their charts- the event that happened a few days before has a lasting significance. On the 14th, Mercury and the Sun have their annual connection/conjunction/cazimi where they share the intensity of the same degree…

Since most of you will read this report after this event, I will summarize by saying that this event is the beginning of the Mercurial year! And it promises to be filled to overflowing with mental energies, ideas, promises, scams, and however Mercury presents itself in your chart!

Since most of you will read this report after this event, I will summarize by saying that this event is the beginning of the Mercurial year! And it promises to be filled to overflowing with mental energies, ideas, promises, scams, and however Mercury presents itself in your chart!

Here is what the Astrobutterfly teaching group has to say about this…

“On May 16th, 2026, Mercury enters Gemini – its home sign – and conjuncts Uranus the very next day. This is our very first Mercury-Uranus conjunction in Gemini, and it will not go unnoticed. Whether it comes from the outside, through a surprising announcement, or from within – as a shift in how you see things – things will start to click in a new way.”

Continuing in wanting to reveal the possibilities and potentials of this new moon, will add the insights of Robin from her weekly column, Wicked Audacity. In this piece, she outlines how this new moon can be understood when placed in context of your Ascendant or rising sign. She writes:

“Now let’s talk about what this New Moon might look like for each rising sign.

  • Aries: This is about your money, your possessions, what you earn, and the resources that support your livelihood. How do you want this part of your life to function?
  • Taurus: This is about your body, your life, your appearance, your vitality, your direction. Who are you becoming?
  • Gemini: This is about hidden enemies, what’s working against you, things done in private, what’s behind the scenes. What’s been on your mind that no one else knows about?
  • Cancer: This is about your friends, your allies, your long-term hopes and dreams, the people who back you. Who’s been on your mind, and what do you want your future to look like?
  • Leo: This is about your career, your standing, and your relationship to authority. What have you been waiting for permission to do?
  • Virgo: This is about higher education, foreign matters, religion, philosophy, long journeys, the divine. What’s calling for deeper study?
  • Libra: This is about death, fear, debt, inheritance, and your relationship to what scares you. What scary thing have you been putting off starting?
  • Scorpio: This is about marriage, partnerships, contracts, open enemies, lawsuits. Who needs to know where you stand?
  • Sagittarius: This is about work, illness, daily labor, employees, small animals. What obligations are asking for attention? How’s your health?
  • Capricorn: This is about your children, your creativity, romance, pleasure, gambling, performance, gifts. What are you excited to begin doing just for yourself?
  • Aquarius: This is about your home, your family, father, foundations, real estate, the past, where you live. How does your definition of what home is need to change?
  • Pisces: This is about your siblings, your neighbors, short journeys, neighborhood, correspondences, daily exchanges. What do you need to begin to create a daily life to be more aligned with who you want to be?

… The chart for the New Moon includes a tight alignment with Ceres and Mercury all in Taurus, but also Mars and Chiron in Aries which suggests some urgency around healing and releasing psycho-spiritual wounds which keep us stuck in the past. This is a time for self-care (Ceres), and using the mind (Mercury) to create space and rituals for an increase in abundance”.

Another interpretation key comes from Denise Bryon, also writing in Mooncircles. She is a renowned psychic and guide for the path of the Divine Feminine. Here are a few more insights on how to benefit from this feminine new moon. She writes:

“First identify the house in your chart that is being newly awakened by this new moon. This will be whatever house contains the 28th degree of Taurus.  Each house describes a particular area of your life. In your Taurus house, the new moon is patiently waiting for you to notice something. Perhaps there’s a gift waiting to be developed. An adventure or challenge beckoning?… .                            What’s happening in this area of life? “

Listening and reading other astrological reports on the value of this new moon, among the reliable and grounded advice that was being shared such as being aware of your food, your money, and what you choose to hold on to or release etc., there was one that served to awaken my personal sense of delight: make music! Dance!

Taurus rules the process of giving voice to your feelings; it is the more vocal and sensual expression of how one understands the rhythms and the tonality of one’s soul…

So along with my more pragmatic advice comes the encouragement to sit your favorite song(s) and along with cooking your favorite foods, and maybe treating yourself to a new piece of clothing etc., be sure to take a walk out side, feel the Sun, and if the mood hits you, begin to chant or sing!

As a last consideration, there is tension in the background in the next couple of weeks, though, especially after Mars enters Taurus on May 18, then approaches a square to Pluto on May 25. So take advantage of this New Moon; celebrate enjoyment, with good food and drink, loved ones, music and dance, and all the delights of the physical world.

A summary statement and a brief look ahead comes to us from the research pages of The Astrodentist newsletter. They write:

“In the days that follow, the quality of time takes on a lively, electrically charged, and sometimes rather nervous note. On 17 May Mercury enters Gemini, meeting Uranus on the 18th. Ideas are bubbling up, the pace of communication increases, and creative thinking comes easily. It is a time of heightened intuition, flashes of insight, and sudden realizations.

During this period you can also expect surprising news, especially in the fields of media and communication technology. There could be unexpected and remarkable developments as well as serious disruptions. If you feel mentally overloaded by the current flood of information, focus for a while on an area of your life you know well. You will have enough opportunity later to get informed and form your own opinion”.
