Remember, that all is One and look into yourself as you understand your neighbor, your friends, your foe. For what you do to your neighbor, your friend, your foe is a reflection of what you think of your Creator.
Hold fast to these truths, knowing that your life is an expression of the divine, that your health is an expression of your faith and hope in that divine power within your own self.
Edgar Cayce “The Sleeping Prophet” Cited in Meditations for The New Age
Believing that we are somehow different from everybody else can be seen as the foundational belief of our suffering; it lies at the base of our sin, if sin can be defined as alienation from oneself and from all others.
Separation exists as an ego reality on the way to becoming an individual…yet, this desire and selfish motivation to distinguish ourselves from all others jeopardizes our humanity while preserving inner and out strife, competition, comparison and ultimately some forms of violence.
Cayce uses the concept of reflection… It is a useful and common reference point found in many other spiritual teachings. In his statement, it uses it to confront our blindness because of our ego-based reluctance to see everyone as kindred beings, everyone as equal persons, each and every person as a child of God.
As a devout Baptist he was very familiar with the parables that taught about comparing yourself to others, judging others, and the mistakes of claiming false humility and promoting selfish pride.
As a prophet of an alien wisdom that seems to break through his consciousness in ways that were both mysterious and tremendously effective in being a teaching and healing agent for others, the gift or skills he was given never settled easily on his heart, but he knew that he was a witness to higher spiritual realities than any ego defined life, any traditionally defined Christian, could bear without questions.
While this last part sounds more absolute and akin to a more Christian Science or metaphysical claim of how the mind and heart can illuminate and clarify our lives in ways that allow us to be free of illnesses and other character issues that might plague us.
