Love, forgiveness, tolerance are qualities that come from within. They are the result of the expansion of the soul.

There is one standard in life: to love, serve, and not to pay heed to the world.

The great thing in any kind of work is to keep ourselves quiet and serene, never fretful or morose. We cannot render true service until we have made our body and our mind fitting channels.

When are we the happiest? When we have a sense of the spiritual relationship with humankind. Then the veil of selfishness is lifted from our inner vision, and we realize the oneness of our soul with the great Soul and all living beings.

What can be said here? It is a supreme teaching from an enlightened master.

There really is no commentary other than my own wistful realization that I have “miles to go” and that I can only seek to persevere in my willingness to serve and my desire to be of service even into my last decades of life. 

Since He wrote this teaching in the 1920s, as a more modern iteration of Vedic wisdom, I could speculate that it was from a similar vein of thought that one of our most influential modern teachers, Ram Dass, simply echoed this in his instruction to “Love, Serve, and Remember…”
