The less love a person has, the more [they] suffer.
If you are in a difficult situation, a low mood, or if you are afraid of other people and yourself, if you are tormented, then tell yourself:
“I will love everyone whom I meet in this life.” Try to follow this rule and you will see that everything will find its way, and everything will seem simple, and you will no longer have doubts or fears.
Count Leo Tolstoy Calendar of Wisdom
Tolstoy’s lofty advice is one, at least for me, is a daily aspiration as I can often find people who are difficult to be with! The challenges for reconciliation and mutual blessings are hard to find sometimes, and yet are truly worthwhile when they are captured and expressed.
Maybe the key advice I can continue to give myself and share with others has to do with intention and the willingness to accept that sometimes your intentions, while honorable and sincere, are not always clear.
Unconsciously, they might be imperfect, self-serving, or ultimately of no value or good use!
Rather than dwell there, the call to love, to value, to cherish, respect and honor can have entangling roots and branches. The main focus being offering a loving benevolence and unselfish blessing.
While I could go on in this discussion concerning intention, Tolstoy’s reflection gives me an open question on how such a loving attitude and outlook can remedy our own doubts and fears. Is it possible that a loving outlook acts protectively in our own awareness?
Is it possible that offering a supportive and altruistic love to another person can heal your own insecurities, and solve your own doubts? Is the complexity of our lives a barrier to being simple, and simply loving? I accept the challenge of these heartfelt questions as part of my daily practice.
There is high regard for striving to be a loving, “beneficial presence” in our world. Seeking the answers to these questions through my diligent practice and daily repetition might well be the way I will rehearse/practice towards an answer.
