Being A Beneficial Presence Means…

Anyone who wishes to help ”make the world better” must develop a deep sense of love and compassion, which is a reflection of one’s spiritual self in union with nature and Source.. One must be willing to explore one’s own illnesses and loneliness, and welcome change. Through looking within, we may become truly empty, leaving space to be filled by that which is Above. We attach to and personalize our illnesses, claiming them as our own– my migraine, my cancer, my broken life.

It seems as if the [two-legged family] has a propensity for suffering. We cling to our psychosis and disease. [We ask:] If we give over our pain, what then will take its place? We must practice surrender in every moment, in our everyday lives. If we develop the sense of balance and emptiness, we will be working in harmony with the force of nature and Spirit all the time, therefore having a strong effect for good in the world.

OH Shinnah From The Five Great Healers Speak Here Cited in Meditation for The New Age

What does it really mean to aspire to become “a beneficial presence” in our world? This cogent observation of its deeper or true meaning comes to us from Oh Shinnah Fast Wolf, who was a medicine woman, and sacred singer of the Apache nation. She was an alert witness, and her words have acted as a forceful voice in the early ecological movements of the last century.

She echoes the Christian Mystics, the Indian sages, the Buddhist adepts etc., when she speaks of the need to empty ourselves of ego and attachments, even our attachments to our illnesses and diseases!

She recommends, as mystics East and West do, that we each have to take a “fearless inventory”(an AA phrase) of our own motives and behaviors so that we can release ourselves from the bonds of self, ego, and its suffering, in order to be able to welcome the Spirit, and follow closely her benevolent directives so that we can truly be a presence for good in our world…
