A wise man once asked what is the most important time, person, or thing in your life?

He answered: The most important time is the present time, because at this time a person has power over [himself.] The most important person is the one you are dealing with at this present moment, because there is no guarantee that you will ever be able to deal with any other person in this world.

The most important thing is to love this person, because everyone is sent into the world with the sole purpose of loving other people.”

… A most dangerous temptation is the temptation to prepare to live, instead of living. The future does not belong to [us] Therefore, remember to live the best way you know how…now!

The only perfection necessary is perfection in love, which can be reached only in the present. It’s why we came into the world.

Attributed to Tolstoy and from his Calendar of Wisdom

To attest to how universal this piece of interpersonal wisdom about the connection  of time to love comes to us in many ways: Here are two:

“There are two days you can do nothing about in your life. The first is Yesterday;

 The second is Tomorrow. We are here-Today- to show love and compassion.”

The 14th Dali Lama

Nothing we can do will ever change the past; Everything we can do now will change the future.
