Love Connects Us

“The foundation of love is in each person’s understanding of the unity of the divine spark, which lives in all people.

Tolstoy makes these comments: “We are separate beings, it seems, but in our inner life, we are closely connected to all living things.

We can feel some of the vibrations of this spiritual world; some of them have not reached us yet, but they are moving, as the vibrations of light from distant stars are moving across the universe; they move, though they are not yet visible to our eyes.”

We belong to each other.

Not simply as members of the human race (Which, for me, is the only race issue I feel we should care about, because it is our shared and universal humanness that needs to be recognized and affirmed) but as spiritual kin or equal members of the one human family under God.

Many people have written about how love connects us. It is the relational glue that clings, that fastens, that adheres us to one another- heart to heart. Yet, it is vitally important to understand this attraction and connection as being far more than any sentiment, drive, desire, or cultural bonding experiment studied through psychology or anthropology.

There is, at the core and at the quality of our existence, a unity with all other life; with all other human beings, and that principle of attraction/connection comes to us from One Source, Spirit; or that which is known as the active and omnipresent energies of God.

We all are the children of one human race, sharing our world, one environment, one life together, united heart to heart, sharing “the Soul of The Whole.”

Being theologically bold, I would emphatically emphasize that this is the unity of the Holy Spirit, the Oneness of God, The Spirit of Life that forms and holds us as the cosmic and ultimate Glue that binds us together.!

Surely, we are stressing and staring as we humanly participate in the ongoing creation that groans itself into continual evolutionary existence. The exalting struggle, that holy promise, can be found in world Scripture.

One source that points to this intimate and ultimate connection comes to us from Romans 8:

“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

For you did not receive a spirit of slavery, but you have received a spirit of adoption. It is this very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are the children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.”

“We know that the whole creation has been groaning in labor pains and not only the creation, but we ourselves groan inwardly. We know that all good things work together for good for those who love God, who are exalted according to [his] purpose.”
